Anyone thought about getting to Leigh early to watch the Catalan game there ?

300 is a paltry amount of tickets - we are not Huddersfield!

I'm on the waiting list as well as had to bite the bullet and forget the train dream.
Really had to get my act together dispite my morning wavering.
No Catalan game for me

and that could be just as exciting for us Trin fans as the main event no doubt wil be.
Thanks to the guy from leigh for his public transport info but the return journey looked a non starter (does that bus finish at 5 to six going to manc?) i've seen a few comments from Leigh fans and they have done themselves proud so far. Hope to see them there to for the spectacle.

I was looking at train and took just short of 2 hours £25 return

The X34 bus possibly does stop running around 6pm. There are other bus services from Leigh to Manchester after that time. The 12 and 26 services. Atherton train station is only 3 miles from Leigh. Trains from Manchester to Atherton leave from Manchester Victoria. Takes around 25 minutes to reach Atherton. Then take the 582 bus to Leigh bus station. Enjoy your day.

Which is quicker mate. Train to Atherton and then 582 or X34?

Presume way to LSV is sign posted from Leigh Bus Station and is not too far away?

Yep, that's what we plan to do.

Train to Atherton from Manchester takes about half an hour and then a 15/20 min bus ride on the 582 to Leigh, so not much difference on time, the issue will be which station in Manchester you arrive at, if Piccadilly get the X34 as that leaves from Piccadilly bus station, if you arrive at Victoria then the train to Atherton could be the better option as that also leaves from Victoria.

The X34 does stop at 6 so the return leg option would be the 26 this takes about 1hr 15mins from Leigh to Manchester. or the 582 to Atherton etc if thats the way you came.

As for signs in the bus station for LSV I honestly have no idea

but leave Leigh bus station with the George and Dragon on your right and the Goose on your left, turn left past the Goose, go over the canal bridge, and take the second street on your right Etherstone street, follow this to its end, this will bring you out facing Leigh East and the start of the Sports Village, you'll see the stadium on your left. 10min walk from the bus station although you'll pass or see plenty of pubs so it can take quite a while longer than that.

Buses from manchester to leigh X 34 Piccadily to leigh. 12 hourly from piccadily bus station to leigh. I think the 26 and 25 goes from picc to leigh (not to sure) your best bet is getting the train to piccadily and finding your way to the ground by bus. Not very helpfull i know but leigh and buses isnt by strong point. Good luck saturday. If anyone deserves to make the play offs its wakefield.

One last note . Leigh bus station is about a 5-10 min walk to the stadium.

And we all know this saturday dilema is skys fault.

If you are in the South Stand, enjoy. 3 sides are seated. The North stand is the only terraced area.

One of his best was in the middle of a game at Huddersfield he collapsed holding his leg, after 5 mins of treatment from the physio, they sent for the stretcher, they carefully lifted him onto the stretcher and just as they were about to pick it up, he jumped up and ran off doing cartwheels etc. Even all the players and the ref were laughing, not to sure the Doctor was.

If we're in the seating area do we have to sit down? I hate sitting at rugby games and the atmosphere is a lot poorer when fans are seated

Train to Birchwood then Network Warrington 28 or 28a bus from the train station into Leigh

For the fans that come to Leigh by public transport or are having a few drinks around the town and don't fancy walking to the stadium, although it's not that far of a walk, there's a 597 bus, run by Maytree Travel, to the sports village. The bus stop is the one on the main road outside the bus station, opposite the Leigh Arms and next to the Goose. The times of the 597 bus after 4pm and leading up to kick-off are 4:16pm, 4:51pm, 5:21pm and 5:51pm.

Thanks to the Leigh fans for the information in response to my request much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I will have my 12 year old son in tow so sampling the ales at any of the locals is going to be a none starter

North Stand is all terracing.
West (main) Stand seating and you will have to sit.
South stand is seating, you will be asked to sit, but like the Leigh fans did on Sunday against Swinton its not been unknown for fans to be allowed to stand at the back.
East stand is a protected environment!

Kids will be fine in some of the pubs like the Centurion just over the canal bridge, and in Leigh East club house.

Any ideas on where we could watch the Catalan v Bradford game in Leigh before our game on Saturday ? My wife emailed LSV and they say they will not be showing the game.

The Centurion will probably have it on, as will Leigh East, they are rugby pubs/clubs.

Leigh East is on the sports village complex, don't know how you're getting there but if by road, you should arrive on site via A580 and the bypass you'll turn right at the roundabout and the stadium is then on your right, Leigh East is a few hundred yards up the road to your left immediately after the roundabout, but very limited parking up there, so if you take the second turning on your left, behind the new pub being built and the North stand, loads of parking and you can usually take a short cut through the car park, and round the pitches to get the club house. You can see it from the car park.

If by public transport The Centurion is just over the Canal Bridge, see my previous post for leaving the bus station etc.
