Is it going to be a month before we know if it is going to Public enquiry or not? Or realistically is it going to take longer? Anyways well done SWAG.

Just want to get my name down here in congratulating everyone who's had some positive input throughout this process.

I've just returned from the meeting and can 100% confirm that a "minded to approve" decision was made.

The vote was passed unanimously but more than that a number of the planning committee made enthusiastic statements regarding their position of support for the whole development which includes the distribution centres and the economic benefits and jobs they offer.

Legislation demands that the plans now be passed to Government to consider whether they wish to call it in or pass it back with the latter being expected.

The developer has confirmed that they will build the stadium working to the time constraints set by the RFLs franchise proceedure meaning a targeted opening date of early 2012.

A certain part of the discussions centred on the assurances by the developer that the stadium be built first or at least in conjunction with the first commercial units. The developer confirmed that this would be the case as the funding for the stadium is intrinsically linked with the wider development.

There were assurances that the stadium is fully funded!

Three of the opposition speakers failed to attend and the three that did speak were poor. They had very flimsy grounds upon which they voiced their objections and were quickly undone by the simplelist of cross questions. The worst of the lot was the main protagonist who made numerous claims but a series of requests for evidence or the naming of where his official reports had come from revealed him to be a liar.

All of the speakers we put up were very good and between them they presented a very balanced case which included all aspects of the benefits this development would bring. Ranging from economic, jobs, better transport links to the area, regeneration of the East of the district, protection for the City's only premier sports club, the huge community benefits that the club provides etc etc.

Great news, always thought it was too great a development for WMDC to turn down,big thanks, to all those that have been involved in this project and onwards and upwards.

Don't you mean, " I hope it goes to a public enquiry". Such was the amount of opposition, that two people who were designated to speak in opposition did not turn up.

Notable objectors to the plan were obviously the HA who's objections are 90% satisfied with the developer saying that issue will be resolved within 3 weeks.

The other notable was Leeds City Council who objected on the green belt grounds and that the development could be detrimental to their residents and rate payers.

The green belt objection from LCC was the but of a joke due to their massive develoment over the last 15 years much of which has been done on green belt land.

Celebrating old white haired chap on Look North 2 mins ago, you could see in his eyes how much it meant to him.

I think this is probably a good time to make my debut. Brilliant news. As a season ticket hoder from the North East I've been just as worried as most of you have. Today is a great day. Always look on message board for the latest news. Keep up the good work.

I can't see the goverment objecting to this project, after all they are trying to find jobs in the private sector after getting rid of hundreds of thousands of public sector posts. They'll probably use this as an example of success of their policies. Either way it's a great day for Trinity.

Congratulations, lets hope both clubs get the stadiums built now.

No. There is a 28 day period for legal challenge and Government Office have to decide if it should go to Public Inquiry. Also the matter of the Highways Agency Article 14 Notice has to be dealt with and the Developer now needs to apply for Detailed Consent for the Stadium and infrastructure.

The Developer will deal with the HA's concerns and I cannot see a Public Inquiry being called. The Planning decision was unanimous and the objectors have been led by a NIMBY who appears to have little credibility. It will in my opinion it will be passed back to Wakefield MDC who will rubber stamp it.

If YorkCourt submit a detailed application at the end of November we could have consent early in the new year and start building straight away with completion in time for the start of the 2012 SL season.

Great day for the Club and we can now start to build and look forward.

Just want to add my congratulations and the heartfealt thanks that comes with 50+ years of supporting Trinity goes to SWAG and TRB and all the others - it makes my paltry letter writing to councillors etc. seems pretty small beer. The effort and time they invested must have been huge and probably took over their lives at times.

I vote for at least a plaque at the main entrance to recognise the efforts of those without whom nothing would be happening - and I'll contribute to its cost!!!!
