Quote: RebelRebel "As far as trust goes, the only issue here is that AG honours his pledge if the target is reached. You get a whalloping discount off the price of a season ticket, the club gets money up front, and everyone's happy... at least, you'd think so. But it seems that people want double the reward - a bargain basement price season ticket AND the satisfaction of knowing that some other poor sod who couldn't afford to stump up in time pays extra, if the target is met. It seems a bit selfish to me.

FWIW - I don't think we'll see the same offer next season anyway. This one [iis[/i about the here and now, IMO - a new start, getting as many people (back) on board as possible, etc. From that perspective, it makes sense (to me) to continue the pledge if the target is met and make the club as inclusive as possible. AG seems pretty clued up when it comes to the whole marketing thing. I reckon the club will learn from the experience of this offer and provide other incentives/variations of the offer for next season, to avoid complacency. But that's just a guess.

Ultimately, it's none of my business to suggest how he spends his money best. I'm sure he's worked out a business plan and will act on it the way he sees fit. If that means increasing prices after the deadline, so be it. I think it'd be a shame if he did, but that's just my opinion. I don't see how it would in any way be a breach of trust if he didn't, though. The more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned.'"

I dont think anyone out of any maliciousness wants other fans to get a poor deal, just that incentives are exactly that, an incentive to get in early and garner a personal benefit.
I also wouldnt be surprised if the deal is different next year, this is very much a shot in the arm and hopefully many fans that came for a couple of games we have effectively got more £££ out of them than we would have otherwise, obviously if everyone who came week in week out has bought one we have lost about 60% of our ground admission revenue so its a very fine balance, short term gain possible long term pain???? we will see.
Our club hopefully will be in a much stronger situation in both finance and playing squad after a year of sound business practice, something we are still suffering the negative effects from, from the Richardson era.
As you say the more of us the merrier.

I wasn't intending to suggest that this was malicious, mate - I just struggle with the idea that people seem to need to compare their own good fortune with the prospect of less good fortune (for someone else) at a later stage to see the value of the deal. The incentive is already there in the deal itself. As someone else has already said, as long as no one gets the same for less at a later point in time, then it has to be a winner.

I can see both sides of the argument here:

I do not necessarily want people who haven't yet bought to have to pay more than me, I'd be quite happy for them all to get a ST for £100

however,

if prices are maintained at £100 for everyone then we have an issue next time for the same reason we had to time limit the initial offer this time. The club need to know how much income they have to play with in order to recruit players and build a team (if we are to be anywhere near sustainable). As we have already seen with this offer, lots of people have left it as late as possible before buying, if they think they can leave it even later next year without it costing them more then they will and the club are back to a position of guessing how much income will come in from ST's instead of having a known figure to play with.

It's not that much different to buying a suit for £100 (M&S of course) and then finding next week that it's on sale for £50! You take the deal available on the day on it's merit - if you bought at £100 then ou must have thought it worth it, but had you known that there was a better offer coming, you'd wait. You'd even wait IF you thought you weren't going to lose out and you could keep your £100 for a couple of months more.

I fully understand the argument for wanting more and more people signed up, but at some point you have to make those who already have feel like they are rewarded for their efforts, otherwise the incentive is removed and the cynic will view future offers in such light.

We've seen countless arguments about 'freebies' and 'freind for a fiver' type deals devaluing the cost of a season ticket. Now we have real 'bargain basement' offer, but with parameters and I beleive that, in the event of hitting the 2,500 mark, they should stick with them - albeit, the differential can be relatively small going forward.

Thats incentivisation (made up word!!!) for you, the earliest bird gets the biggest juiciest worm, as long as everyone gets a go at the worms after thats fair enough.

The best bet would be to extend the deal for say 6 weeks, but stipulate after that time the prices will rise to a certain amount. That way, some will find themselves lucky enough to get a ST at reduced rates and those who chose not to, only have themselves to blame and next season will be aware that if they don't commit early enough they won't reap the benefits of others.

Or perhaps £10 a week until it reaches the standard £200 at approximately the begining of December.

Anyone official told you? Nothing announced yet (although would be surprised if we haven't hit the target).

if we have done it, then the club should announce it as " xxxx percentage increase on last years figures". they then don't have to give the exact figure for the number, and it is ore positive than we have sold 2500 (as other fans will prob say - is that all??)
