The benefits of summer rugby such as training in the light, reasonable temperatures making improvements in skill development far outweigh any negatives, certainly after only a few months. Such a change will always have initial issues but nothing that can't be improved over time and experience.

There is at the moment big breaks in the calendar as you said which does need looking at. We should have Crig next week after a long lay off though I believe they have the cup match, not that I'm too concerned as we have 9 players including both our 6&7 out poorly or injured from a now squad of 23!

Not sure what'll happen with your east Leeds games as we have drawn them in Leeds and district cup which needs to be played before end of June.

We are playing east Leeds next weds night so both yourselves and east Leeds will be free for the weekend.

criggs pitch is holding up ok but already some of the refs are having concerns over some of the junior pitches, more so these that are a fair distance from club house to pitch .

i think the main worry this w/e is flood and wind



crigg have a friendly this weekend before the face arguably their toughest opponents since the hull teams .
both hull games were different in many ways and it could quite easily of been an all hull final in the yorkies . just got a feeling Lockers Crigg will be an even tighter game at fev an will produce a very very worthy winner.

very close win for Stanley Rangers 14s today beating Oulton raiders 26-18
that now puts us on the same points but top on points difference





we can now chill out for the challenge cup final next sunday


shame its not Hunslet Darkside as would of loved to repay them for their win over us a few years back

went to watch a panthers under 12s today angainst some french team it was a bit it was ok game but panthers was far to strong for the french team winning 40 pluss to 0 and to be fair i dont think the french could compete with any of the top division over here but it was good to watch.

has the prvious post says the panthers u12s ran out 44-0 winners against a spirited side that gave there all and never gave in.

the difference in class was huge has the panthers ran in 9 tries playing some good rugby which was pleasing has these games tend to see players get too excited when they see the line.

overall a good weekend was had by the french kids, they enjoyed the experiance and hopefully they will take a positive attitude back to france and look to improve in the future.

i think the u11s game finished 24-12 to the panthers.

Spartans U13's beat Cas Lock Lane 70-24 on Sunday, to go 3rd in the table with 2 games in hand.

Some hard work in training this week, then we play our Continuation Cup final against Stanningley on Saturday morning; I'll be glad when it's all over - I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof!

panthers u12s moved up into 2nd place in the league after beating east leeds 24-10.

another solid performance from our boys playing some good stuff,a few bombed tries and a late score from east leeds made the score closer than it should have been,but overall im well pleased with how we are progressing has a group.

its time to thank all the guys who have over the years put so much into both my lads at Stanley Rangers but time moves on and so do players and even juniors .
My lad single handed pick Cross to go to , A certain Mod i'm sure would recommend it , at looking just 1 week i can see its a mighty fine junior set up
so i'm sure its not a bad move.

Of course i have made lots of friends even more so in the 10s group that i class as close friends that i can trust but one friend that has coached both of my kids and in fact as coached around 95% of all Stanley rangers kids deserves my biggest thanks.

She is without doubt the back bone of the kids set up at S.R, and at times i have heard some of the most deplorable things said about her and at times the biggest deserts accolades .
She never sent a kid home unhappy and her ethics are second to none , she installs the correct values into the kids that want to learn and has not just made mine into better players she made mine into better people as well, and brought my youngest out of a very shy shell.

she is alone i m h o an ambassador to the game and myself Karen Ste and Tommy would like to say a massive thank you to our friend .

Spartans U13's missed out on the Continuation Cup by 2 points this morning - Stanningley scored on the last play of the game to just nick it.

Cracking game, very tight and played in great spirits - congratulations Stanningley.

Emma is a star and is passionate about both rugby league and kids enjoying rugby league, I have been involved in junior RL in the Wakefield area for around 11 years and for a big part of that Emma has been involved with our "regular" opposition, I have always found her friendly and knowledgeable and cannot understand how anyone could have a different opinion of her

Well pleased today after a hard fought battle with Dewsbury Moor, Stanley Rangers managed to take control of the game and finished worthy winners 38-8

pleased too for the lad too that put in a good stint and drove through for a try

watched all the games this weekend thought sandal were hard done to by the ref and as a neutral i could say it was as close to cheating as ive ever seen. to play on and on then blow when the other team scored was ridiculous. thought the 17 had a cracking game is workrate was fantastic.

ive not seen stanley play as bad all season, they were out of sorts today and to be honest it flattered them a bit the score. the game was the worst game out of the 8 ive watched at the weekend.
