If Newmarket ever does come to fruition, in whatever guise, we would have started to take some meaningful steps towards making a contribution to the process and also given the Supporters Trust a massive boost by creating a hugely important role for it.'"
I think the supporters trust raising £2 million is a tall order but I'd certainly like to see the trust get behind some kind of fund raising initiative.
I beleive the membership is around the 250 mark so lots more members would be required to something meaningful. A fundraising cause where your donation gives you a ST Membership would help increase the numbers and might help catch the imagination of those normally too lethargic to join.
How about raising money to pay for a mini bus to be used by the community team and the scholarship coaches. A 20 seater purchased in partnership with a sponsor requiring the ST to raise £10,000 matched by the sponsor and bought via the Community Trust.
We could have a Blue Peter style total meter that shows how far or close we are to achieving the goal and tracking progress towards the amount required. |

We have about 4000 people who watch Wakefield on a semi regular basis an that number would increase to 24000 "diehards" if we went to Wembley. Clearly only a proportion of the regulars could afford to invest but there are many people in Wakefield with considerable wealth who might appreciate this opportunity to help the city to secure the future of its lifeblood.

I don't think anyone can critiise you after the time and effort that you guys have put into this project and like everyone else I hope all your hard work pays off one way or the other. I wouldn't take the moans personally mate. I know it's hard probably not to though. Anyway thanks for all the time you and others have put into this. I certainly wouldn't have had the patience to have been involved. |

It sounds like Yorkcourt have got the council over a barrel and they know it. They were able to generate the support for the development by linking it to a new stadium but the council had to sell it to the non-rugby general public in Wakefield on the basis of job-creation. Can the council really say to the Wakefield public that they're going to try and put a stop to it because of the lack of a stadium when it was supposed to be about jobs and wealth creation? The public will just say that it was only ever about a stadium.
The economy is in the doldrums and I guess that Yorkcourt realise that the council will do nothing to a stop a development that will generate jobs, regardless of the chicanery that got the approval. |

The thing that never ceases to amaze me is that there never seems to be any criticism of the old regimes that over many years got the Trin in such a mess. The abuse and criticism seems to be reserved exclusively for the very people who are trying to dig you out of the hole.
As for the £1,000 per share idea just remember there may be more than Trin fans willing to chip in.

I think all the false dawns and promises of the previous years has added greatly to the general feeling of, oh no not again and I'll believe when I see it attitude.

If you'd been around longer, you'd know how wrong that was. The problem seems to be that every new saviour promises the world but delivers nothing. The current "saviours" (Yorkcourt) are merely getting their time in the spotlight.
One thing that can be said about Michael Carter is that he's different from all the rest because he's promised nothing but delivered something, stability. |
