| Went along today just out of interest.
TBH, I was pretty disappointed by what I saw from you guys.
Ok, some of the young kids would have been playing their first ever game against professional opposition, but the biggest let-down was the appalling performances from the first-team squad members thta turned out for you.
King looks unfit, out of shape and lacking in enthusiasm, Johnson (I'm baffled that some posters think he had an impressive game) was well tied up by the Hawks defence and Bibb was simply invisible. However, their performances were pretty stellar in comparison to the one of Jason Demetriou. The worst player on the pitch by some distance. Knock-ons, penalties conceded, sin-binning.
He's been a great servant, but maybe he should have called it a dayat the end of 2009.

Marchys best two players on pitch. They are and have always been such great readers of the game. I think Hunslet will do well this year. Having said that it will have been great experience for our young lads. I would definately say our starting props did not feature today !

I'd agree with that other than JD, yes he had a stinker today but i'll back him for this season, i'm sure he'll be the first to put his hands up. I'm glad you mentioned Johnson because i don't think he stood out today but he's not played for ages so we'll see.

i agree al others were poor yes. But Bibb is a first teamer now and for me he should step up but he does not do anything. I have never left a game and thought wow that Bibb will be good. Never .Now hes had his chances. I honestly believe he is a waste of salary cap now. Murphy not the size of bibb but runs hard and tries his hardest every game and hes developing into a quality player. Theres the difference . LEts ship him to Hull KR his so called "dream move". And we can get a young prop from a league 1 side. LEts face it Bibb would not stand out at Eastmoor thats no dis respect to eastmoor as 1 of there props would do a better job than him.

To be fair i agree. I havent seen anything from him to tell me Bibb has potential. You would have thought he would want to stamp some authority even this early in the year.

Bibb seemed to have a clear opportunity to score early on but wanted to bull doze the full back over, baffled us all he will have to find some killer instinct or he will end up slipping down the ranks

Hard to be optimistic about Bibb imo. I had hoped he would be chomping at the bit to prove a point.

| Nice to see Pettman get a game. Someone keep me updated on how he gets on throughout the season please
Bit harsh £12 to watch your kids and Hunslet. Is that what they normally charge?

Thought he was Wakefields best Prop yesterday..... Which doesn't sound to good if your King or Bibb.

| How many times do we hear the terrace experts shout "give the youngsters a go". Usually every time we lose.
Well yesterday was why we don't. There were a lot of good young players in that squad, in fact they have champions medals to prove it. Yet against a workmanlike Hunslet team they were destroyed. It was men v boys. I accept that many Hunslet players will be little older. However in the physical world of RL there is a huge difference between a 19 year old and a 21 year old, certainly in physicality. The March twins had a field day.
Sure the senior players didn't show up but then they rarely do in these games, added to that none of the senior players included were playmakers.
This left a beaten pack which in turn left a inexperienced H/B partnership with no options.
JD was awful and he knew it but that has no baring on how his season will go and the poster who suggested this is being daft. Ditto King and Johnson. Bibb on the other hand had a point to prove and didn't which was slightly disappointing.
Expected more from Southernwood but I suspect he picked up an injury early doors. Other than that Trout and Davey look prospects.
If I have one complaint it's this. No matter what the level of the game or the opposition you cannot play IMO without a recognised playmaker. Yesterdays game became a totally pointless exercise because once we went behind by two score there was no one we could bring on to control the game. Surely either Obst, Brough, Newton, Latu or BJ could have been played on the bench and could have been used for a short spell to steady the ship and give some direction.
I know the risk injury but yesterday became an utterly fruitless exercise which IMO is even worse.
