You’ve agreed that letting off contract players go and not yet replacing them is the right way to go also that loan agreements should expire, players go back to their parent club and we don’t replace them meaning their wages are saved.
That alone will create a bit of room for movement regarding the recruitment of some quality where it’s needed.

However, if a new Head Coach sees a high quality half back as a priority and the only way to raise the funds is to accept an offer from St George - Illawarra for TJ and Tom himself is thinking of going then the Head Coach should be the one who makes that call.
Cash in on TJ and sign Mitchell Pearce for example. Tom is a magnificent player but maybe recruiting a player like DCE, Pearce or Nikorima would be greater for the team than having a superb winger.

Like I said before, all hypothetical but let a new Head Coach have the money and make the big decisions on players in and out!

I don`t get the people questioning who there is outside of Chester to come in as coach, surely at this point anyone is better? We are clueless, there must be 20 experienced assistant coaches in SL that we would have the pick off - Rich Marshall, Andrew Henderson, Sheridan, Orr, Deacon, Rowley - Give them ago for the rest of the season?

Question is why are they assistants and what happens if we give them a go and end up in a worse position.

Personally I wouldn’t gamble on an unproven assistant, I think this is the most crucial coaching appointment since we brought Kear in as Head Coach when we looked certain to be relegated.

We need to bring someone with proven ability and a well established methodology

The answer to me is pretty simple - try and bring in ward from London. Someone who can change the game plan week on week if required. Chester might try different players but plays the same game plan week on week. First 3 tackles taken in by
Wingers/full back followed by 2 inside passes to forward runners by half back/hooker. Followed by nothing really on the last tackle

There assistants because there young and not been given a chance yet

Slight problem there is that some of them aren't that young......

Doesn't matter really does it? You get assistants that will always be assistants yet a good proportion of them will go on to be successful head coaches at some point. The Aussies have some quality coaches, most of which are promoted to head coach from that assistant position, that is just a natural progression, unlike our game they tend to show some faith in the qualities they possess and really give them a chance, similar with the playing pool to be honest. Like I say we could do worse than go for an assistance that is deemed ready to take that jump (I think there are a few) or potentially even go for someone like James Ford, anyone who has watched York in his tenure know that he knows his rugby, his recruitment is consistently good and he has them well drilled with the right attitude all elements which are severely lacking at this club.

Ford already seems to be building his team for next year so can’t see him leaving them any time soon.

As from November do we not have a potential future Head Coach in Wille Poching?

I don`t think Poching is Head coach material for me but who knows.

Ford also as a fantastic well paid job at York uni so to leave and go full time with us would be a big risk

poaching as been brought in to keep the natives quiet after being a fans favourite and give Chester a stay of execution

To be fair I wouldn't want Poching to take the head coach role and ruin his playing reputation.

Singleton has just signed for Wigan.

To be honest Mullally has seemed to go downhill in recent seasons. Leeds fans couldn’t wait to get shut of him and he’s been pretty ordinary at Toronto, even when in the championship.
