It seems that by a clever shuffling of owner ships, the closing and opening of companies and the transferring of contracts has somehow led to the shedding of responsibility to adhere to the S106.
It was said many times that YCP were financially bankrupt it seems they are morally bankrupt as well.'"
Hi,
Can I make a bit of a plea we leave off YC (no i'm not a shareholder).
What you say may be correct I don't know, I'm not rebuking I'm making a plea to all fans..
What I do know is this has nothing to do with how YC have partially side stepped the S106 agreement - it was way easier than that and how(who) we were let down by is a battle for another day.
We can comment on YC's morals all day long but what they have done so far is legal. The fact remains though that they are the only people with any money to put our way so like it or not we have to work with them. At the end of the day they are the only meal ticket in town and although fillet steak has been replaced by a pork chop it's still potentially a decent meal.
We can look for negatives and conspiracies all day long but truth is it's just business and we have to roll with the punches.
The one positive about this is that if it all comes off the work could begin within month as opposed to years with minimal disruption to what people are used to - it most likely will be a far less of an upheaval than NM giving tangible results much sooner (hopefully).
I'll state my opinion and it's that BV is the better option even though I'm in a minority in SWAG and I fully get their viewpoint. It is possible to polish a turd, Widnes have and HKR and Leeds are in the throws and both have more atmosphere and real heritage than most Lego build stadiums. I kind of like the idea of us still playing at the Stadium we first used 130+ years ago so long as the redevelopment is a good one and I think away fans will also appreciate a different experience. No reason we can't lead the way in bringing the area up rather than continuing on a downward spiral.
It's only my opinion but stopping at BV (if it all happens) has reignited my passion for the club - something NM was not doing for me and I mean me I'm not talking for others.

Agree with everything you say Im exited about a redeveloped Belle Vue and also the timescale being quicker than Newmarket. Stadium WAKEFIELD action group will have more than achieved its goal if Belle Vue is redeveloped.

| Clearly there has been something in the offing for a little while in regards to all this.
I wonder how the Express feel abought bringing it to light now if it serves to lesten the benefit to the club as a result?
The Paper has had a rocky relationship with the club and some supporters at times, maybe this will turn out to be another low point in the papers support.

| I've said my bit and there's no need for me to revisit the points I've made over the last week or so.
I appreciate the sensitivity of the talks the club are in so Ill leave it at that for the good of the club.
Great post Vasty

| just a quick question to Vasty - I have said from day one regarding newmarket been too far out of town and been a major gamble to WTW regarding finances and the possibility of the support base not moving with the club. I have also stated on here several times that WTW would be better off upgrading BV.
Why the sudden change of mind ? -or is it you agreed with me all the time ?

I have to agree that NM wasn't really doing anything for me. The only reason I was keen to see it happen was to satisfy a criteria. Satisfying a criteria isn't why I turn up to watch Wakefield Trinity.
For the past 5 years since moving to central Wakefield I've been able to walk to every home game and it's become part of game day. A cheeky pint in Fernandes on the way there, a bit of banter with the train traveling opposition fans, and a postmortem of the game in Harry's Bar on the way back. I'm more than happy to see historic Belle Vue get a coating of glitter rather than attend a Lego stadium with no history surrounded by warehouses.

Never disagreed with you as far as I know. However SWAG opinion was that NM was the better option and they are probably right so I was happy to go with them, that's how it works. Now it's irrelevant and it's just my view.
Frankly I don't care so long as we get something fit for purpose.
Oddly I didn't realise how much NM didn't rock me until I heard that BV may get an upgrade excited me - I think you may feel similar if/when you leave WR. The ground in it's own way is more a part of the club than many realise.

| Spot on Vasty. I knew we would get there together in the end.
I must admit reading the above and even as an opposition supporter - I'm a bit exited myself at seeing the new BV take shape.

| It's the "fit for purpose" quote that is most important to me.
If Belle Vue is just painted up, then I'll be disappointed.
If Belle Vue is developed in such a way that it will be a modern stadium with good access, modern facilities and stands that allow you to see all four corner flags with no obstruction then great.
I had let the history and emotional tie to the ground go with the possibility of a sparkly new stadium but as long as Belle Vue is "fit for purpose" in 21st century England, then it is the better option.
I will be able to tell my son that the nice new stadium he stands in (when he is old enough to go) is the same that his dad, uncle, grandad and greatgrandad stood in.
That is a valuable thing to be able to say.
