can only think that he took his eye off the project doubt it will happen again and I'm sure with his reputation will be out to correct this big style

Exactly, probably a case of taking too much on but i'm sure it will make him more determined than ever to get a good deal for the trin. Only my opinion but i think rodders will be true to his word and deliver a super new Belle vue. Hope so as i want to watch some great derby games in good facilities for many years to come.

I've heard some good things of what could be possible but it its all dependant on other issues, Wakefield as a city should not be holding back on sport at any level who ever it involves,
this city lacks some go ahead for years and just lately starting to make its self more presentable

Spot on. As someone who attended a SWAG meeting last night I can assure you all Rodney Walker has nothing to gain by getting it wrong.

Ditto Yorkcourt.

I can't say much because nothing is finalised as yet and it's not my place so I'm going to be a bit cryptic and it's up to you if you believe me. Personally if it comes off I'm delighted but that's only my opinion and to be fair not the majority opinion.

So…

I/we believe when YC started this development they fully intended to build a stadium at NM - however like any clever company they covered themselves and the prevailing economic conditions and a duty to their shareholders things change. They are far from the sole instigators of this new course of action in my opinion. They are at the end of the day a business.

The club are playing it canny.

Ditto Sir Rodney.

The club, the Trust and SWAG still have a fair few bargaining chips so we are not helpless and far from being shafted IMHO. YC have found loopholes but still can't steam roller the initial agreements without a large cost to themselves.

We can fight YC and probably win every battle but winning the war is far harder to predict and is a risky policy considering the cash we could lose.

Basically if we stand firm we will get a lot from the new deal even though IMHO we won't get NM or not in an acceptable time frame.

Some said it's like polishing a turd, well it will be a diamond turd imho.

As someone who helped start SWAG 10 years ago we'd have snapped YC's hands off for the offer that may transpire because 10 years ago we had nothing and no channels in which to influence things and now we have.

Finally hats off to TRB, IA etc who have worked tirelessly to keep us in the game. Not the outcome they really wanted but if the new deal comes off it's still a massive achievement. a014.gif

Once again won't believe anything until the work starts. Yorkout got what they wanted all along, will be suprised if they help us develop Belle Vue. They have what they want we probably can't afford to take them to court. In Rodney we trust *cough* *cough*

NGB4C please try to read between the lines.

"The club, the Trust and SWAG still have a fair few bargaining chips so we are not helpless" - key line.

We still possess something YC genuinely want and to get it they WILL have to PAY a price. That exact price is yet to be ratified but even half of that would do me TBH.

It's nothing to do with YC or anyone else screwing us it's all about the best deal for both. If we (the trust etc) don't give YC what they want, YC will lose a lot of potential profit so it's in their interest to give us a good a deal.

I wish I could tell you more, but I think I'm on safe enough ground to say we will get some money/compensation to upgrade BV but the amount is still to be negotiated and it could be substantial and that is up to people more qualified than us.

What I don't understand is this.

I thought there was a watertight agreement for the Newmarket development saying that the warehousing couldn't be developed without developing the stadium too.

It now appears Yorkcourt can develop the warehousing without building the stadium at the Newmarket site. How can this happen? Was the agreement not watertight?

And I believe that planning laws are always applied strictly, consistently and fairly and are never sidestepped to suit the interests and financial and political power of those involved. Which pretty much sums up what I think about this long running soap opera

Quote: bren2k "According to the Local Government Ombudsman

The question is whether the developer currently applying for planning permissions is the same as the one which signed the contract and, if not, does the new developer adopt the responsibilities of the old.

It seems that by a clever shuffling of owner ships, the closing and opening of companies and the transferring of contracts has somehow led to the shedding of responsibility to adhere to the S106.

It was said many times that YCP were financially bankrupt it seems they are morally bankrupt as well.

Then surely it works the same way, why have they taken up the Newmarket development
