| The country is split near enough down the middle. I hope I'm wrong, but I really now despair for the future. When it up goes "t***s up" half of the country will say "I told you so" and the other half will say "you never told us, but it's all the immigrants fault".
I'm really proud to say I am a Trinity fan today, but ashamed to live in Wakefield. At least I can say I am from Leeds, as Leeds voted to "Remain"..... though only just.
It's also shameful that the "leave" camp went on about how undemocratic the EU is, when we will not get chance to vote for the next Prime Minister (please don't let it be that fake Boris)

Agree. Surely this is more undemocratic than the EU?

Why? She has no power as such - she's just a figurehead. Foreigners and many British think she's awesome.

She does have powers but they are never set by her but by her Goverment however she is still unelected and we as tax payers pay for her and immediate family and until only recently she has started paying tax albeit at an unknown level. The exception is Charles who owns vast swathes of money generating land giving to him due to his position.
I note that the first promise of using the money saved on the EU will go to the NHS cannot now be guaranteed because it was not a true reflection of the net amount we paid. This was still enblazened on the leave buses despite everyone agreeing it was incorrect. I wait for the next promise to be watered down because it cannot be met or totally forgotten now they have conned half the public into believing what they said or half the public wanted to believe what they said despite the facts saying otherwise.

| Can anyone in favour of exit tell me if they wanted Scotland and Northern Ireland to break away when they voted or, is it all a big surprise.
That and the plummeting value of the pound (although this was at least mentioned during the referendum campaign (denied by Farage and Johnson though)

We are now masters of our own destiny and the UK will thrive outside the EU. Anyway where are Scotland and N.I. thinking of going? the EU in its current form is finished, quite a few other EU countries are already talking about and demanding there own referendums on membership.

"masters of our own destiny" is just not true.
We are part of Europe and the World, whether we like it or not.
What we have done is given up our seat at the table.
It's a bit like Wakefield saying they are a grat rugby team and dropping out of SL, so they can "play whoever they want", sadly, they would just be ignored.

Can you please tell me how & why we will thrive outside the EU? What is going to be different?

| It’s nice to know we’ve got some ringing endorsements from across the world .
U.S.A. –
Donald Trump arrives in UK and hails Brexit vote as 'great victory'
France –
Far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen was among the first to respond with a cry of "victory for freedom!"
Netherlands –
Geert Wilders - the leader of the anti-Islam, anti-immigration Freedom Party - was among the first to congratulate Britain on its "Independence Day".
Russia –
Ultra-nationalist MP Vladimir Zhirinovsky said the British public "had performed a heroic deed".
Unfortunately they're all from crack-pots .

In the short term maybe, but in the long term we'll vote for leadership which we will be able to hold accountable in a way we haven't been able to for decades.
Let's not kid ourselves, this isn't a decision born over the last 3 months it's been years in the making and both Eurocrats and our own Government have failed to read the signs of discontent.

| Quote: Scarlet Pimpernell "I guess we no longer need UKIP or its leader Farage because sadly they have completed what they were set up to do. Why do I not think it will be the case however, and we will have to endure his smug smiling face across our screens.
Cameron was so determined to win the election that in order to keep his supporters from UKIP he made one promise too many and we are now in the position we are in. He had no choice but to resign however he can afford to do this from his privaledged position unfortunately his legacy may result in him going down as the PM of finally destroyed the UK. We will also face a Tory party who will lurch further to the right and that will be at the expense of our working conditions, many of which only exist because of the EU.
I note that already Spain who will no longer be restrained by the EU are looking for joint sovereignty over Gibraltar and Scotland another referendum which I am sure they will win.
We will no longer be Great Britain but Fractured Britain with a split population all brought about by the folly of one man and his parties desire to win at all costs.
We also have an unelected head in the Queen so should we now be given a vote on the position of the monarchy.'"
I don't get this one promise too many argument, without the referendum we'd have the majority of people in this country living under EU rule which they've shown with their vote, they didn't want.
Are you suggesting that as a populace, we should have been forced to stay in against our will because that is totally undemocratic

He has made many promises in the past like "vote blue go green", I will reduce immigration to the 10's of thousands you can be certain. These were just two he made but did not honour. The vote was never intended to take place, he did not expect to win the election and would of blamed his coalition partners for not allowing him to honour this.
He unfortunately won and had painted himself into a corner so a referendum had to take place. To make it worse he presided over one of the worst campaigns I have ever come across.
