If that's the case, then the whole thing stinks to high heaven; and as Slugger has suggested, the opponents of the scheme could reasonably feel that they've been had - as could the inspector at the PI, who seemed very convinced by the arguments in favour of the community stadium.
The total lack of information coming from anyone other than the WE doesn't help the situation; right now, I'm feeling like this is another example of having our pants pulled down, which has become depressingly familiar to WTW fans over the years.

| Well as somebody who lives in Stanley I feel duped. I would certainly have objected to the warehouse plans WITHOUT the stadium. Much as I love Belle Vue (been going since 1960) I feel that this is not the best idea. Yes Newmarket was a fair way out of town but it was right next to the M62 so would have great access/egress for supporters from all over the North (like it or not most people go to matches by car these days). No parking problems (hopefully!), a shiny new stadium and brand new facilities to progress sport in the Wakefield area. Instead what will we get? A lick of paint if we're lucky, ridicule from 99% of the Rugby League community and same old parking problems.

Depressingly familiar - yes, but can any of us afford to give up? We may not get what we want, or feel we deserve, and if anyone wants to gave a go, feel free!
The lack of information us not because anyone wants to hide, but because very little is agreed / decided. Given how this appears to everyone, and not without due cause, I suspect no-one wants to say too much that could be misconstrued or just be damn right wrong!
I have certainly allowed plenty to pass on here without further comment - my stock is low enough already without trying to tell people stuff they don't want to hear / believe. There are documents being put together and further meetings planned and from those we would hope to put this scheme together on a more formal basis. Until then, I'm not sure how much info you will get, no matter how frustrating that is.
The press release last week was early, and only because Rodney was banjaxed. The feedback is good but the picture is unclear as to what everyone wants. I certainly feel that we always seem to get a bum deal, but then so do all the clubs blessed with our local authority!
I hope we can put something together that we can all feel proud of!

I realise that you cant say too much at this point, TRB. However, most supporters understood that the new ground at Newmakket was set in stone as part of the planning consent and whilst, for me personally, Belle Vue is far more accessible than Stanley (in terms of public transport and street parking and walk up punters), there is certainly going to be a backlash from the residents of Stanley and Methley, who may see this as a "Trojan horse", used purely to gain access to prime development land, which could not have happened without the stadium build.

I am more than aware of our role in this and how it may look to some. My conscience is clear, but the idea that NM gets nothing but the industrial estate sticks in the throat somewhat!

| So who could have seen this happening and raised the issue? Someone must have had the same info as the contractors but been on 'our' side. Is it just a case that their people were sneakier than ours and we took too much in good faith?

My post was directed at the people at Yorkcourt, not anyone from SWAG, who deserve all the credit they get. I just wondered whether they felt they'd been had too.

| So the ground that won you a SL licence is not happening. I think you should be docked 6 points.
Calm down calm down I'm only jesting. I would just like to say that it is another example of RL supporters being done over by big business. Keep you chins up and give the rest the Agincourt salute.

No sweat Slugger - I wasn't taking your comment to heart, but I do think we have some responsibility to the locals up there.
I am wary of knocking YC too much as we still need them in a big way, but they managed to sidestep the club, the Trust, the planners and the Government office - that's some trick! We believe they owe us big time!

| Is there a double jeopardy rule in planning law, can we not go back to the SoS and inform him of the scurrilous actions of the developer post Inquiry and request a revoking of the planning permission until such time as the developer fronts up to his obligations.

| One thing that amazes me is that YCP must have put a separate planning application into the WMDCs planning Dept. Why did they not say, "hang on a minute, this is part of the Newmarket development, on your bike"

We very much do need YC and nobody wants to rock the boat when we are seemingly at their mercy!
The problem is that the supporters of WT don't know what the problem is! - other than Newmarket is in jeopardy and except for what has been published in the WE and information from such as you TRB the silence is deafening.
I suppose that YC have no legal responsibility to inform anyone of their intentions but morally in my opinion they have, as in my view they are the key player here. I think the least they could do is make some form of statement to the public of Wakefield to explain what the situation is regarding their delivery of the community stadium, having gained massively themselves out of the whole Newmarket situation.
