If he is fit and his head is right until the end of the season it is a fantastic signing. If he just wants to bad it out until the end of the season and pick up his wage it’s a lousy signing

I will give him the benefit of the doubt it’s up to him to play the rugby we all know he can produce

Don't see how it could be for the season (if true), when will they want him for pre-season, or don't they do such things in union?

Top six 2005 - Trinity.:

I think with the young team of eastmonds age we have and the enthusiasm the wakey squad have it could very well be a motivating factor for eastmond.

If we have sighned him then at this stage its good. Who thought at seasons start we would have estmond in the line up?

That said we need to reserve judgement until after he has played if he is actually coming.

As for our current halfs they are doing a super job. Lee is getting heavily involed and his passing from 1st reciever is a big positive for us in getting that ball wide.

Nothing wrong with the goalkicker we already have! Not seen much of the "SPARK" in the last season or so either! icon_biggrin.gifEPRESSED: a026.gif

I am not sure. My heart says it would be great to see someone with that much talent playing for us but my head says he already thinks he is in union and down in Bath and wouldn't be a good influence on our squad.

If he does sign you have to look at it from another angle, this guy is a big name in both codes he has a national profile that many other RL players can not match. The profile of our club would shoot through the roof, national media coverage guaranteed. This would be a great platform to push our case for a franchise and drop suttle hints about the unfairness of the franchise system. Overhaull it would show that we are not the weakest franchise and put pressure on the RFL to keep us in. Just like how the game is today, what happens off the pitch is more important than what happens on it! I don't think it would do are gates any damage as well.

What I said a few weeks ago

Quote: The Clan "Wouldn't touch him for a few reasons the main one being this is Wildies time to come through and signing a player with a stinking attitude, no respect for supporters and who's not committed to the game let alone Wakefeld Trinity is a bad message to send.'"

I've mellowed on him a bit since then and despite Matty Wildie offering even more promise for the future due to his recent performances I could see a few reasons why Eastmond could be good for the club.

He's obviously not wanted at Sts and that's got to be unsettling, players need to feel appreciated if not they don't settle and too much water has gone under the bridge at Sts for him to make a return to 1st team football.

I would imagine he's professional enough to put the effort in if only to maintain his own personal pride and reputation. If he comes wanting to enjoy his football, gain back some credit, feel the emotion of the Trinity roller coaster free from the burden he created for himself at Sts then he would be very good for us.

if he comes here and JK gives him some short term goals, like get us to the play offs, spend some time on the training field with Wildie, Hyde & Moore then I can see where he would benefit us.

Off the field it sends a message to anyone interested that we aren't a dead man walking and have the clout to make a big noise in the future, then there's the media interest and the commercial opportunities.

With reservations I would be OK with Eastmond if all of the above were to Be the case.

the kid has got class and can break the defensive line, a bit like brough. anyone who has watched us play so far this season should be able to see our problem. we work hard and get into good positions but dont turn that into points on the scoreboard (leeds game was a good example).
we need creativity and he has it.

as for the whole he does not want to play league argument, its nonsense . he is a professional sportsman and if rugby union came knocking 90% of SL players would take the option as it offers far greater rewards than league. like it or not its a fact.

HOPE HE COMES HERE!

So a new poster comes on here claiming a fact, and we all assume its correct. No evidence or source. Hmmm.....

Having seen the other thread re Semi Tadulala, I now find myself icon_razz.gifRAY: that there is some possibility of this one happening.

Good signing if true but i want a good experienced player not semi tadulala he wont excite the fans anymore he was great for us but i will be underwhelmed by this. Eastmond on loan for a year will help us get to the 8 you cannot deny his quality and his kicking ability.

Top six 2005 - Trinity.:

Having eastmond even on loan for a month to work with Hyde, Lee, Moore, Wildie etc would be a good move.

Be interesting when the this signing is announced
