I can never understand why people go on about ex players. So he played a few and scored a couple of tries and looked decent and wow he's scored against Wigan in a friendly. Tom Johnstone has broken into the first team picture pre season and he's staking a claim for a regular place that's great news and just what we need. I'm only interested in who wears and wants to wear the colours of my home town team and if he gives his all I'll back him to the hilt. Same as Owen, I saw him score a good few tries for us last season, people should concentrate on positives like that and support the lad. Alright he has deficiencies in his defence but he's not the only one but he can certainly finish and that's what I'm hoping to see plenty of this coming season, if he can score a bagfull of tries nobody will care if he's got a 3 year deal. The constant moaning by some nameless people even before we've started is frankly embarrassing. At least give the guys a chance to show what they can do, get behind them for Pete's sake.

Think Kaye's first appearance for the first team was vs leeds pre season 2013. He played SO I think.

Think Kay 1st came to the fore during that 9's tournament a few years back. Walshaw also stood out. What ever happened to him?

His first game came in 2012, the easter monday game at Wigan. He did ok and wasn't seen again until the Hemel cup game the following season when he scored twice. He should have been given a decent go then but wasn't seen again until then end of the season when he played in 3 of the last 4 games. All history now.

Probably realised that for the money Wakefield could afford to pay him, added to the fact that it looked like his game time was limited at the club decided to take up the offer from a perceived bigger club albeit at this moment in time in a lower league where he would be on more money and a chance to play regular football and getting the chance to full fill his potential and establish himself, loyalty is a fine thing but unfortunately you can't spend it in the supermarket, not the first and won't be the last sadly.

Yep, both Kay and Walshaw left for something that Wakey couldn't or wouldn't give them, regular game time.
I was never ever going to watch Wakey again when they sold Nigel Wright but a week later, I was there watching a them!
Players come and go, that's the Wakey way but we always seem to do ok in finding others to fill the gap.

Unfortunately it has been going on long before him, Leeds spring to mind as a club what's had more than their fair share of Wakey players' over a long period of time.

Just finished reading David Hinchliffes book about the Watersplash Final (which is a very good read)and you can see how Leeds actually killed off Hunslet.

While I agree that letting Liam Kay go was a mistake, I feel it is the bigger picture which we need to focus on, which is why can we not keep hold of and develop our clearly talented youngsters and get them into the 1st XIII. Ann akin was outstanding2 years ago, not been seen much since, cowling top debut against St helens, gone now. Jowitt again thrown in against St helens away and didn't play again even in a dead rubber at the end of the season. For me this situation needs to be rectified, preferably before Johnston ends up at Doncaster!!!!!

Hat trick yesterday one of them being a try line to try line solo effort which takes some doing regardless of opposition.

He dont look the biggest lad in the world but seem quite powerful & difficult to get hold of, and is deadly from 20 or 30 metres from the try line.

All in all im glad he's at leigh.

To be fair 2 other Leigh players got Hat-tricks as well in an 86-0 thrashing.

There are two probable reasons' why your happy he's at Leigh, firstly we could only offer him limited first team opportunities and secondly wages that reflected that, so when an ambitious club like yours comes along looking for players' with some sl experience and plenty of potential and offering everything our club can't give him, add to that an agent pushing him because he gets the best of both worlds then it's not hard to understand why he's where he is.

Your problem will be IF or when you reach sl, because of the lack of finances you are forced into the same situation as us because most of the money is going on the higher paid players' and not a lot left to pay the up and coming youngsters' and the Leigh's of the championship come along and offer them the moon on a stick and sadly off they go. Another example, this weekend you play the Bulls, hopefully you will be up against a lad named Lucas Walshaw he's another one what has unfortunately had to be let go, he can play centre or second row and the chances are he'll be up against Finn on that wing so maybe you can compare them and see who got the biggest bargain.
