| Quote ="DAVE@CAS1990"looking at it as a fan, you'd probably say Poore's reaction was justiyable.
As a team-mate, would their opinion be either
A: wow what a punch, he had it coming
B: FFS Justin
I'll let you decide....
Punching is a sending off offence, simple as that. Demz De Rules.
Whether Farrell's, ahem, "effort" is deemed to be a punch by the disciplinary matter, only time will tell.
Ref clearly didn't think it was a punch otherwsie (I would hope) he'd have sent him off.
Either way, the "lovely punch" as it has been deemed has done you guys no favours in the following weeks.
I also think Poore will be on the receiving end of much more niggling and provocation from smarter opponents, as he has proved on more than one occasion he can't control himself at times.
On the plus side, Wakefield played like that for 69 minutes against (for me) the best side by a mile for finding gaps..... Great effort!
Though I'm sure your forwards won't be as fresh as a daisy this morning..... Except Ali, of course, who only played about 15 minutes???????????
Am I missing something there?'"
I think that's a pretty good and fair summary.
How did Cas get on?

| I wasn't at the game due to work and not really being bothered lol but we did exceptionally well to keep a team to 40 points this week!!!!!
Hopefully Poore's 1/2 match ban will be an eye-opener to him and will come back fresh.
I dunno of his disciplinary record in Aus so can't really say either way

I don't think that there's any comparison. Hock is a coke headed perpetual offender, next to him Poore's in line for Nobel peace prize.

| One thing between Poore and Hock - ones an honest, hard working and a little short tempered former SOO forward, the other is a cheating, eye gouging coke sniffing thug.

Not denying that, and that's not even the point. The point is that if it was the other way round you lot would be baying for blood. And rightly so.

Not me. I think Poore and Farrell were guilty of the same offence; namely striking. The fact that one did it with more skill should be broadly immaterial in the eyes of the officials. You could even argue that Farrell's offence was far worse, given that it followed him shoving his arm in Poore's face in the tackle, dropping his knee on him and then striking first.
I'm certainly not saying what Poore did was right, but it was understandable. Should he just have stood there and waited for the second and third shots from Farrell? You tell me.

| Looking at some of the comments on the Wigan board, you'd think that we were the dirtiest team around and were the only ones who were guilty of head high tackles and messing around at the play the ball.
Obviously, trying to find reasons why a team down to 12 men were able to keep the margin respectable and put 24 points on them.
Would love to hear BC's version of whether he grounded the ball for that no try decision, and also still mystified how Vince Mellars was deemed to have been tackled touch-in goal, when clearly the majority of him and the ball were still in the field of play

Mellars was holding the ball in the field of play. definately got that wrong. surprised no one has mentioned the number of head high tackles wigan got away with. On a number of occasions dragged our players to the floor with their arm round our necks.

Thanks. So given that Hicks saw the that, and can't deny seeing what Farrell did after, how come he didn't walk?
Mr Poore should have an interesting evening at Red Hall this week. If I were him I'd simply say "I got a head shot, then dropped on, then jabbed in the face. There was no whistle and I took the decision to defend myself as it wasn't clear how long the prolonged attack was going to go on for".

I agree - given that Mr Hicks didn't intervene in what was a series of fouls during that tackle, I think Poore could reasonably argue that he was left with no other choice.
I've been a long-time critic of Wigan's approach to the contact element of the game - Maguire introduced this hunting in packs, win at all costs mentality and their constant pushing of the envelope in terms of tackle technique is an ugly spectacle; Farrell is one of the niggliest players in a niggly side and personally, I'm glad that we finally have a player who is prepared to put a marker down.
Justin Poore uses extreme force when faced with wrongdoing - he's like SL's very own Batman.

| Whilst not condoning what Poore has done, his selection of players that he has punched, i don't think can be faulted. He just needs to be a bit smarter in getting across what he feels.

: Poore apparently has got the worst disciplinary record in Super League this year and its not what a team like Wakefield need. We need him on the pitch to make the hard yards and breaking the opposition in two like he did against Hull KR.
He's got real ability and I'd much prefer him to be a legal enforcer in the tackle and running the ball in really hard. He's ex-State of Origin and he needs to remember that he probably has more ability than most he plays in England. I would have loved to have seen him batter Farrell in the tackle 10-15 mins further into the match reminding him who he's taking on just seemed a bit stupid to do another 'Bailey' in a league match.

Brilliant.
We'll carry on doing our legal 'hunting in packs' and 'pushing of the envelope' (aka tackling) while racking up the 20+ point wins. You can put your markers down while getting players sent off and getting hammered weekly.
The holier-than-thou attitude is amusing considering 2 of your players got cautions for illegal tackling against Hull FC last week (including Poore...) and Poore has already used his early guilty plea in a warm-up game . Meanwhile Wigan have received 1 caution all year and no bans.
Poore has been cited 6 times from the 10-11 games he's played for you. Farrell has been cited 9 times from 75+ games. Maybe Poore is trying to make up for the lack of ability with over-aggressiveness. Who knows..
TLicon_biggrin.gifR - you don't know much about Rugby League.

I think it is you that is "holier than thou". You obviously condone Farrels tackling technique, even though it was he, who conceded the penalty.
Poore does need to control his aggression but, at least the players "messing" with him will know what to expect.
