| Basically when we got ball in their twenty we were driven pack and virtually every set they were going length of field . When we received we generally made no ground on first 3 tackles

| We seem to back to walking on a tightrope. Slashing the playing budget is only going to take us one way.

| That was dire. Our go forward was non-existant, the creativity amounted to sling it wide and hope for the best and the hooking position is a major problem. Sorry but Kay tries hard in that position and has a half decent scoot but his distribution just doesn’t have that snap required and his tackling in the middle of the field lacks bite. And the less said about some of our discipline the better. We had everything in our favour going into this and yet all Huddersfield had to do was the basics to beat us. Fair play to them they deserved the two points but we are in a deep hole right now.

| Home form not good enough. My lad hit the nail on the head by saying Hudds played the ref like a fiddle slowing our game down well done to them tactics spot on. We hardly moved off our line to meet them resulting in Hudds making far more yards. As said our pack is getting mullered every game. Big games coming up so let's see what they have to offer us

I genuinely think this Wakefield team has much more things to worry about than a promising 19 year old winger making a couple of errors tonight, he does a lot more good than bad! The fact we struggled to get out of our 30 for 75% of the game is the major concern. Their team was littered with young forwards dominating our first string pack. Genuinely really worried after watching that, I’ve never seen a Wakefield forward pack look so weak in my time of watching. All the players are clearly giving 100% but it’s simply not good enough, we need more quality adding or we are in a dog fight at the bottom ....... again.

I agree. I thought he had a good game. I didn't even notice his mistake as Tom made far more and they were significant.

| I have Covid so couldn’t go. Sky commentators said at least three times that the May 3rd transfer window has some relevance. I don’t think there is much space left for one but that may be the final nail in the head when chip shop rumours start.
We were shiiiiite in many areas again.

Well that’s it. Our pack as it stands wouldn’t even be the best in the championship, so how are we supposed to compete and lay platforms in SL. The club have completely got it wrong with recruitment, I’m sorry but they have. Getting rid of both Woods and replacing with Hood and Kay is clearly, we are getting mullered around the ruck every game by half decent hookers. Bringing in Gaskell when we have Brad Walker rotting in the reserves, absolute joke. Whitbread is doing ok, but we need an enforcing forward to compliment Fifita, as all the opposition defence does is swarm on him as he’s our only go to forward.

Nothing can be done, there are no players on the market who can change things, we have no money even if there was. Whilst the pack was well beaten we still has enough field position to win that game. Re Murphy, its pretty harsh labelling his tackle as an error. It was a well timed dominant tackle that should not have been given as a penalty.
Just seen on the other thread that the win takes Huddersfield to forth. The speaks volumes about the quality of Super League at the moment.

| Wow it is a pick on Murphy day .Murphy went well and does not look out of place on the other wing The penalty for the tackle was a joke .Go as far to say that he out played T J Jowit had a good game at fullback .The problem is the pack in fact go as far as to say the reason why J C does not look out of place is down to playing in a old slow pack as much as J C improving . Thought the team over all played well . But as far as the pack is concerned that as been brought about by not strengthening over the last 3 years .Not a lot W Poaching can do about it.He as been left with the players of the last 3 year And the players the other Coach brough in to strengthen the team this year are a joke

| I know the forwards aren’t providing a platform for the backs, but for a supposedly England international, Reece The Crab Lyne needs to run forward more than he does sideways, poor display from him again tonight, that second half he ran sideways halfway across field and threw the ball three yards forward onto the ground, not a pretty sight, as for the penalty against Murphy for the alleged tip tackle, that really was a joke decision by the ref, sorry PT, but nothing will convince me otherwise that most of these Refs, are biased.

Murphy was superb.
He in my opinion is our form winger.
TJ has been fantastic but I think his time at Trinity is coming to a natural conclusion which is best for both parties. He is sadly a diminishing asset whilst Murphy is on the rise.

Maybe the injuries are catching up with him, but he just didn't look himself today. There were a few times in the second half where previously he would've backed himself to go for the line but he checked his run. We still don't use him as we should. Many a time he was stood in open space but the ball was either too slow to get to him or it never made it there. Same with Murphy on the other wing. Ultimately we are just too slow in defence and attack which are the fine margins that could turn a loss like tonight into win.

| Thought Murphy and Jowitt were our best two tonight personally.
I keep seeing people saying Murphy’s tackle wasn’t a penalty. I’m afraid as of this year you’re wrong, it is. The directive is if the legs go above the horizontal it is a penalty and thats what happened. It wasn’t by that much, and whether it was actually ‘dangerous’ is another matter but they are the rules as they stand, whether you like them or not. Technically it was the correct call even though for me it was just a hard, dominant tackle, them’s now the rules people. At the start of the season he’d have likely got sin binned for it so at least that has ended.
If anybody wants a pop at a penalty giver how about targeting the messiah Fifita. The one he gave away by nudging into the guy playing the ball was as dumb as they come and cost us big time.

Don't think it cost us at all, it was on the first tackle and gave us chance to get set. We were just too weak to keep them out. Probably stupid nonetheless

| For a start not having ago at murphy he has said has a fantastic future and took his try well but the intial point 2 trys came from where he has gifted them possession in a way the tip tackle was a penalty all day long legs above horizontal and the secind he disnt stand to play the ball and hes been pinged as previous stated he is still on a learning curve but peeps on here moan about errors costing us trys and technically they where errors and he is no way been blamed by me for defeat and yes with ball in hand he was probally the best tonight.
As for tommy i got the impression thats a guy who didnt want to get hurt weather thata cos of all the injuries or to protect a move who knows if he does think it will benifit both parties as he will be on good money which can be used elsewhere should we manage to stay up and yes we do have ideal replacement in murphy.
On a much more positive note when we next ko in toulouse ill be in sin city so it wont dampen my day like tonight has

I’m not comfortable with either call on Murphy.
I can kind of understand both but I’m not comfortable.
The tackle was fantastic. In my opinion Lutelli, who is a world class centre, understands he had been dominated and twists to find his front whilst on the air.
For a long time I’ve said whilst the impetus is on the defender to look after the ball carrier, the ball carrier has to look after themselves too.
There were tons of scruffy post there balls all night. In fact I’ve not seen as poorly reffed rucks in a long time. I’m watching it back now and there are hands and hips and elbows all over the player playing the ball from both sides all night.
Ref only seemed interested though when Murphy and Fafita got it wrong on the lead up to the second try.

Weather there correct calls or not and for me it was a pen his feet went above horizontal and the 2nd seen them given and not given but there are 2 incidents where hudds having the ball could of been avoided thats all.but we could say that most weeks.with regards murphy and hall there the best things to come out of this season thus far and if billy was fit right now it would be lynne he replaced but i dont think the backline is the issue

Agreed re the pack.
Needs a major refresh.
We desperately need a 9 and a few props.
We have a team of middles and 1 prop, who rarely plays.
Where we find props from though is your guess as good as mine.

It was a penalty but how you can blame him for a try i just can’t fathom. He saved a try by shutting down a clear overlap! If he hadn’t gone in hard on Letuele it was going to the winger for a certain try.
It’s not Murphy job to tackle a forward in the following set, on the other side of the pitch. Murphy did his job and stopped a try. Miller made a poor attempt to tackle McQueen so I think your completely wrong on blaming a try saver from Murphys the reason we conceded. It was Millers poor tackle.
As for the penalty for not playing ball correctly. Watch it back, Hudds player had hands on murphys back getting up and pushed down and put him off balance. Thought it was harsh at the time and still do.
The pack needs sorting. Tanginoa is a destructive player running wide at gaps and backs but not into 16-17 stone forwards. What a complete waste at prop.it’s blatantly obvious to everyone he should play left SR.
Fifita didn’t look match fit to be expected but I expect we will see more from him as he gets back match fit.
I really don’t know what the answer is to get us out of this slump.

| Firstly, well done to all the players for putting in a big effort,I can't fault any of you.Unfortunately we have a SL back line and a championship pack.We just don't create a platform for the backs to do their stuff. The forwards are pretty much one-paced and don't tackle head on but from the side.Hudds were regularly rolling upfield and spending any amount of time in our half, whilst we were struggling to make yardage. And the daft thing is we could have won! And then I think 'didn't we impress at the end of last season and at the start of this, and beat Wire away twice'
Its a funny old game is this rugby lark,I think I'll leave it to the experts.

| In my 2022 mode of watching ever game as though its the only game I will ever watch... I thought that was a pretty good game battled out by two fairly well matched teams in a rugged arm wrestle... the two key aspects of the game were the ten minutes at the start of the second half when Hudderfield had all the ball and bombarded Trinity's line with simple but hard running tactics. They made no errors and kept the pressure on really well. the second significant moment was Tom Johnstone bombing a walk in try ... that just doesn't happen... ever!

| If anyone had had the sense to shut Fages down in the game we might possibly have stumbled over the winning line ,but letting a player of that quality do whatever and for however long he liked was a big mistake ,and was at the heart of everything that Shudds did . Plenty of lateral movement but very little forward momentum from us but I genuinely thought we’d win this one ,but it became pretty obvious the longer the game went on that Shudds had the measure of us ,and one solo effort and one off the cuff try wasn’t going to be enough . Why we keep kicking off to possibly the best player on the opposition is beyond me ,kick it to a prop or anybody instead of the bloody half back every time ,who passes it straight to a player running on it at pace and we’re on the back foot from the off . We seem incapable of thinking and playing outside the box and Shudds contained our one dimensional plays with ease ,second phase was non existent so offered very little as a threat going forwards. This may have been a weakened opposition but still had enough to contain our meagre and feeble attack and we struggled to contain their go forward , all very depressing really, seemed like a lot of huffing and puffing from us but it really didn’t amount to much at all on the field . I was rubbing my hands at the prospect of the second half playing towards us in the North stand ,and genuinely thought it would rally the troops on the field ,but they pinned us down in our half for long periods and we had not the power nor the guile to get us out of that . Watson got his men up for the fight and we were only in that fight for short periods and the rest of the time we were on the ropes ,looking second best in every facet of that game .
