| Quote: Sandal Cat "Charlie, what do you want us "advocates" to say.
You say Newmarket "was exactly what we needed". Well I agree with you as does TRB and IA. I and others have spent many hours of our time working towards this aim. We've stood in the precinct getting 15,000 people to sign a petition in favour of the project, gave evidence in support at a Public Inquiry as well as attended too many meetings to count.
Were we pushing for Newmarket ? - you bet your b*lls we were and we were still pushing for it last Wednesday evening when we met to discuss what could be done to push Newmarket forward when the Wakefield Express announced that a decision had been made to re-develop Belle Vue. We did not leak the story, as we were still looking at whether Newmarket could be delivered and we were pretty gobsmacked and brassed off when we heard of the news as some on here.
Do you want us to tell you what has gone wrong, if indeed anything has gone wrong ?
Well we don't bl**dy well know - all we know is that it has now been decided to redevelop Belle Vue and abandon Newmarket. Are wee peed of by this decision - just a bit - after all the time we have put in.
Can we speculate what has gone wrong, again if anything has gone wrong. Well I can have a good shot at it and I might be right but I equally may be wrong and upset what negotiations may come for Belle Vue so I'm sure you'll understand that its best if I keep my big mouth well and truly shut rather than peeing in the wind and speculating.
There are some on here who are happy with the decision to stay at Belle Vue. I'm not, but if the decision has been made then like it or not we, if we care about the Club, have to work towards obtaining the very best deal for the Stadium Trust and The Club. That will involve negotiations with a number of parties and having worked most of my career in Property & Land Development those negotiations are best served in private and not in the public domain.
The situation is simple, people can trust those involved in the project or not but all I can say is those that I know who are involved are as passionate about Wakefield Trinity as anyone who post on here.
One the other hand if anyone would like to take my place then please feel free to do so because I'm happy to stand down and get some sleep at night and not have my wife ranting at me because I'm sloping off to meetings at the drop of a hat or constantly on the phone to TRB.
I know you are sick of hearing this but please be patient, this is proving very difficult.'"
Is this the case, that NM has been abandoned?
That's now hit it's been reported, just that redeveloping BV was a better/quicker option.

I noticed that as well.
If that is the case then surely dates for commencement of the rebuild of BV will be announced shortly

There may be benefits to redeveloping Belle Vue and who knows there still may be something at Newmarket but it doesn't look like it's going to be a Community Stadium.
The Clan seems to have heard something that may please many but as I've been saying and I know people are tired of hearing it, including me, we will have to be patient and wait and see what develops in the next few weeks.

That's not the same as abandoned which is what you put in your post.
If Clan has heard what I heard yesterday then maybe this is indeed a positive thing, but what we here and what happens are two different things.

I was talking about a Stadium that will be used by Wakefield Trinity. That is what looks to have been abandoned and what I was referring to.
Indeed who knows what will happen. I'm too old in the tooth to believe anything until my backside is on the nice new plastic seat.

| Quote: The Clan "from what I've heard today this could prove to be the best thing to happen and the most likely to become reality.
Like most fans my first reaction was uh oh! here we go again, we'll end up with a lick of paint and some temporary toilets.
If what those in charge are planning comes off that will not be the case! This will be a near total rebuild of the stadium on all four sides with further plans to tackle the parking issues.
Ask a Wigan fan if they'd rather be at a modern Central Park or the DW, ask a Warrington fan the same about Wilderspool, Hull about the Boulevard! We have an opportunity to stay at our home of over 100 years whilst also enjoying the benefits of a new stadium.
Hold your water until more details come out'"
Clan, you're one of the few posters on here I read and take notice of, so if you're feeling positive then I'll go with it.
My worry is the timescale. Another two or three years of Planning Meetings, being Called In and trying to raise funds will put us back where we are now. I'm 58 now, I'd like to think it will happen before I kick the bucket.

Planning will be a formality to redevelop Belle Vue you would be talking months not years if what I'm hearing is going to happen Belle Vue Wakefield Community Stadium will be a stadium this City will be proud of.

This, gives me hope, as the poster has a track record of honesty and integrity and hopefully the people that have given him the info treat him with that same respect. Time will tell!'"

Thanks to both of you, I'm a bit humbled by your opinions, I'm just a fan who's been lucky enough to have served the club in one way or another.
Before posting, I did ask the person who told me this if he minded me sharing but in typical forthright fashion he said it wasn't a problem.
As Sandal Cat has said there is still much discussion taking place, there is no plan at the moment or perhaps ever to completely abandon Newmarket but its more than extremely probable that the community stadium element will give way to a redevelopment of Belle Vue. What I heard today excited me and the timescales were attractive, the development would put the club in a strong position and hopefully safeguard its future in the top flight for many years.
The club was a bit hijacked by the article in the Wakefield Express and wanted to strengthen their position before going public but its out now and serious talks with various parties will continue or in some cases begin.
I heard more but I'm using some discretion because I wouldn't want to compromise the clubs position in future talks with various parties but use your imagination and I bet you won't be far wrong.
As a lifelong fan the conversation lifted my spirits.

All we need now then is to get it right where it matters ie on the field, maintain the current in order to safeguard the future.
I've lit the fuse, I'm now waiting for RA out, part 37, sub-section 3.8.4 C
I trust and respect your opinion also, until you get it wrong

| Quote: JINJER "You really must be enjoying this, out of 160 posts posts 11 are yours, every one a negative, you always prophes to be a Wakey fan but always seem to turn up all guns blazing when the sheet hits the fan, in all my time trying to help Trin have our paths ever crossed or are you too many miles out of town, blah blah blah?'"
Not enjoying it in the slightest
OK. Lets be positive. Wow we have great coach and its only a matter of time before we gel. Th club has managed its finances brilliantly and had some awful bad luck with thos nasty tax people asking fo their money and such like. We've always been kept brilliantly up to date by the club and you can't rush these things, its only been 15 years we'v been off to a new ground and 5 for Newmarket and I'm sure all those nice people at YCP and the council have always had our interests as foremost in their thoughts....and I am so looking foward to my seat in the new gleaming East Stand in 2015. There. Positive enough? I don't enjoy any of this at all. If I've posted 11 tims its becaus I'm pig sick of it all and oh...I thought it was a forum for comments, but only if you think the world is made of candy and the moon of cheese it seems

| That's part of the wakey make up, it always has been and I don't ever see things changing. We just seem unable to get things right in all departments. You only have to look round at the strides other clubs have made to realise that we are miles behind in most aspects.its easy to get to get pig sick especially has an older fan , two steps forward one and a half sometimes three back. Some good solid news would be long over due and a welcomed
