Quote: Kevs Head "But the Asian and Black populations won't be affected if we leave the EU!!!'"

Dont Asian and black people live in other EU countries, Germany etc.etc.once they have citizenship of the EU they have free movement to anywhere within the EU and that includes the UK. The NHS is a big pull factor for people to come to the UK.

Quote: bren2k " so they come here to work, pay taxes and buy things - and in so doing, contribute to the upkeep of the welfare state, '"

Been in the building trade for nearly 30yrs but unfortunately had a break in 2008 due to the recession.
Having to make ends meet i had to take a job in a local packing factory where it wasa 50 50 split of nationals and mainly east Europeans.
Having talked to quite alot of them ,their goal was to live as cheap as possible and send as much money back home as possible ,do a 12,18 month stint and go home .Really helping the economy there !
One worrying fact was that they were mainly supplied to the factory through an agency, many a day were turning up and on occasions problems in factory resulted in there being no work and obviously no pay.
This was happening quite regularly with many different people who I'd never seen which got my thinking how they were surving?

So, if the NHS is such a big pull factor, why don't all the black and Asian citizens of other EU countries come here now?

When i got back into building i ended up having to look for a labourer.
A Jamaican lad became available, been in the country a few years.
He was a great lad and good worker but as igot to know him it became very evident why he was in the uk.
In his own words....

"Im hear to get as much as possible for free due to you (me) taking all our homes and wealth during the empire"
WOW!
He was deadly serious as well.
I no this sounds like foreign bashing but these are my experiences with migrants

Is this a discussion on the EU membership or have we now moved on to the fact that the only thing the leave can come up with is immigration. I would remind those on here who actually believe what they read in the Express and Mail that probably 90% of it is rubbish.
The facts are that anyone coming to this country does not have automatic access to social housing or benefits for several years. If we wish to quote Norway they had to as part of the agreement to trade with the EU to agree to free movement of people. If you don't accept you don't get regardless of how important some of you believe we are. The majority of immigrants to the UK are from countries outside the EU which we can stop but we do not. The reason we have lost so many border officials is not the EU but austerity measures imposed by the UK Goverment.
The finance sector one of our main industries only survives with EU business if we leave they do too. The majority of the big manufacturers are only here because it allows them to access the EU market, we leave most of them can relocate to the EU.
The EU prevents governments from imposing draconian measure on the workforce, leave and you are at the hands of Boris, Gove and IDS not renounced for their social conscious.
The money we pay into the EU for membership, for every pound we pay in we get 80p back through various agreements. The 20p we save will soon pale into insignificance compared to the loss of jobs and revenue by standing alone.
I look forward to our brexateers putting forward a coherent economic argument why we would benefit in leaving, rather than relying on the a motive subject of immigration. I would make one final point when asked what percentage of the U.K. Population are immigrants the usual figure perceived is around 25% when the actual true figure is below 10%.

Maybe you should read the whole thread before being sanctimonious and condescending to anyone who doesn't share your version of the "facts"

Yes ,children will be cleaning chimneys out, working pregnant women sacked and the minimum wage abolished.

There is one reason and one reason only I'm out,the fear of East European bricklayers walking on site willing to work for half the wage I earn.
Yes ,it's a small minded "Im all right jack attitude " in the bigger picture ,but that's life.
I suppose it doesn't matter anyway, because all building will cease if we leave because of the recession

it seems to me they are trying their hardest !!!! according to most recent figures for 2015, migrants from other EU countries living in the UK total 2.88 million [ ref. House of Commons Library, Briefing Paper no. SNO6077 dated 26/05/2016] total British people living in other EU countries numbers 1.22 million.

I think you know the difference,
one is a cross between the betrayal of a subconscious sense of superiority and an attempt to ridicule, there's no humour intended.

The other is a display of comradeship and an ability to smile together despite being on opposing sides.
