| Lots of posters on here are ex players, so they're not all wrong PT!
I'm not beyond school level (a long time ago) but I can recognise when a team is clueless in attack and when they aren't.
Let's face it, no matter how good Bradford were on Friday (and I acknowledge they were good) we shouldn't have struggled against them as we did. It was embarrassing at times to watch players throwing the ball to team mates in panic mode at times and in an ad hoc fashion.
We have no idea at times in how to break a defence down, particularly near the line, and yet clubs like Cas' do it with ease.
In my view we have some outstanding attacking players at Wakefield who's potential is simply not being used.
Something is wrong and needs putting right because if not we're looking down yet again, not up.
This is the opinion of a coach from the terraces, way below the standard of a SL coach but I aint blind!

| I agree sometimes being deep gets you no advantage but just watch the quality halves over last 15 years like thurston lockyer etc and see how far back they stand and guide everybody around exactly what they want to do on a play

| Quote: PopTart "Are you actually suggesting Chester should listen to the fans for his tactics? That's probably wins the award for most ridiculous post this season.... And we've had a lot of competition so far.
There is a famous quote, If a coach starts listening to the fans, he'll soon be standing with them.
It would sometimes be better to run on to the ball but sometimes not.
If you watch some games from the past where there is a really deep line it looks spectacular when they run through a broken line, but you'll also see a large percentage that don't even cross the gain line in a whole set.
These days the defense would just trot up and keep a fixed line and stop you. It would hurt a bit more if they have momentum but you need metres gained for early sets and that is what standing a bit shallower gets you with less effort. It's percentage rugby and I'm pretty sure that is first page in the John Kear handbook too.
I agree there are times that standing deeper would help, but they are at key points in the game not every play and certainly not the forward dfives.'"
Don't be ridiculous yourself PT. You're a moderator not a judge and jury. I was not being riduculous and I have been watching this game since before you were born so a little bit of respect please.
You're like a lot on here who try to make what is basically a simple game into some sort of scientific / psychological exercise with your theorising and spread sheet diatribe.
What i was saying was that the points raised by ricardo in his original post are tried and tested, and been employed successfully by far better teams than us in the past and currently, and are virtually ignored by CC. So may be it could be time that he looked long and hard at those points instead of turning out unadventurous, flat line attacks match after match.
All those points raised by ricardo were valid, and many other supporters I speak to agree.

Good post redders, next home game I'll pop down to your little spot at the bottom corner and see if we can't put right the problem, a bit of topic I know but do you think there's now a chance we won't get relegated if no more footballs played.

Being a mod doesn't mean I have to agree with you.
I'm no youngster myself but I would respect anyone equally.
And in my opinion it is a simple game with complex tactics. Of course running hard and playing with attitude is a simple thing to do. Unfortunately the other team are trying to do that too..... So stats and tactics and strategies are important too.
On the whole I don't disagree with you. The difference is I don't think there is a silver bullet, run from deep answer, answer.

| Fair points . I agree that you don't have to agree with anyone, but there again you don't have to insult them either.
I repeat, all those items listed by ricardo07 were perfectly legitimate points to make and echo comments I hear from all around the ground at any match. Chris Chester doesn't have to take advice from the punters, obviously. But, the tactics and methods of play he employs are obviously not working. It's true to say that we have gone backwards in the last three seasons. The fans are not idiots, We have a good squad of players. Would it not be worth listening to the fan's comments from time to time?

The listening to the fans thing is where we disagree.
Listen to other current Super League coaches Yes
Listen to NRL coaches and experts also Yes
Even listen to Some players, not all Yes
Listen to me as a fan No.

I agree PT, listen to a fan NO, listen to a couple of thousand fans.MAYBE!!!
If you suggested something to your MP would he listen? No. If half of Wakefield electorate suggested something to your MP he might just listen.
