| Fishman suggested that Lyne may have dodged a bullet and I'm starting to think he's right.
There is no doubt at all that Lyne should have played and should have been in front of Hardaker as well.
Mr Bennett, you have taken us back to the 80's, when picking players from the big 4 was all the rage and ignoring players from other clubs.
This is the worst performance by a touring GB or England side for over 20 years - just imagine if we'd had to play Australia.
Losing next week, which shouldn't happen but, right now, wouldn't be the shock of the century, would put the tin lid on the tour.

Ditto Tom Johnstone. he'd have been stuck on that wing with no service, get the blame and see his international career ended. I'm not suggesting his injury was in any way a good thing but if you were looking for a positive this would be it

We were going to go on the tour, so glad we decided not to.

| I saw something about Bennett saying hes trying to work out his half backs for England in the next WC.
I'm sorry but GB is the pinnacle, England should be for the young up-and-comers and reserves.

That's what England Knights are for.
Playing for England should never be the best available players who can play for England.

The GB brand should have been left on the shelf, it's value has now been utterly trashed

| Get Shaun Wayne or Powell coaching the GB team and selecting the right players for the job and there is nothing wrong with the GB format .The problem is picking an Aussie coach who has no idea or doesn’t care about the history of this once famous Team .
But you are right that if sinfield n co don’t sort this mess out why bother bringing it back .

Wane or Powell could both do a decent job for England/GB but, why would they want the job ?
They could possibly help us to the elusive series win against the Aussies but, it's unlikely and with so few international games, they would be kicking their heels for 9 months of the year.

Personally i think Wane would jump at the chance of Coaching England in the WC, he'd definitely get some pride, intensity and aggression out of them. He could do the job and still keep the other gigs he's got going on. Wane and Watson would be a decent combo imo.

He'd also, I fear, pick exclusively from Wigan and the other 'top' teams rather than on form. Its the big weakness of all previous British coaches, reputation and old boys network. That said Bennett has proved not much better. Just my opinion.

I would suggest any such comments from Bennett are a very sad effort at face saving over the shambles he has made of the GB squad

I don`t think he would, even at club level he was known to drop some key players if he didn't think they were up to his standard, and brought youth in there place at every chance he got... Having listened to him talk at length and listened to what his coached players have had to say about him he is probably one of the hardest working blokes in the game, the idea that he would take the lazy option and just go with players from the top teams as you say is highly unlikely.
Same with Powell for me, you only have to look at his recruitment at Cas in the past to see he has an eyes for who is performing well and who will fit well in the team.
