| Quote: JINJER "Probably not this simple but why don't the club just sack him, let him take them to a tribunal and worry about the pay off till after the season has finished? At least give us a chance to avoid relegation.'"
It wouldn't necessarily end in a tribunal; it's entirely legitimate to discipline someone based on poor performance - happens all the time in all workplaces - and the result of that could be dismissal; provided it was fair and reasonable in the circumstances and the proper procedure was followed, you're far from guaranteed to lose at tribunal.
One way or the other, it does seem like the end of the line for RA; pretty much none of what he does appears to be working any more, and the fans are voting with their feet.

| If you want a change, change his duties to a more strategic role and thus you have the same monthly outgoings on his wage and no hefty lump sum payment. The only additional cost is then the wage of a 'new' head coach which would be the equivalent in monthly pay-out terms to that of a 'decent' SL player.

| Quote: Mick Amos 9 WTW "I put on record I like Richard Agar. He's still a young coach and learning the game. I wasn't sure of his abilities as I haven't seen them first hand but there 'are & has been' many interested parties for his services! That to me at least says he has potential. There are many coaches out of the game with no where to go but professional organisations see something in Rich.
He's not deliberately trying to sabotage the club, nor does he deserve 'some' of the vile and disturbing comments. Criticism of his performance, team selections, rotations etc are certainly fine done in the right manner. This is not an Agar is brilliant thread. I can't say I massively know him or have personal allegiances. Its just sometimes when the chips are down for a bloke, they deserve a bit of support! Nevertheless You have to accept in sport, that its result driven and we haven't had them.
He has had the reins over a period of time when the club has had no stability and this has been extremely challenging. 'Good experience comes from bad experience' and he will certainly have experience from his time at the club.
I'm happy with how magnificent the off field financial problems have been managed. But through this it has been a very difficult time for the coach and players. Losing several key players and not having all the team over for pre season was a major inconvenience. Strike players Ali, Collis & Kirmo have been Injuried for long periods. Other players have struggled to be available to be on the paddock. You have to go with medical team and sometimes players thoughts on fitness & this isn't always correct which has a severe adverse effect on selections. In addition either we are not fit enough or the players are not physically or mentally good enough themselves. The skill levels & basic low risk play error ratio is shocking! Concentration, coordination etc goes when you are tired! But why are they so tired? Missed tackles, line speed & other aspects associated to fitness and strength are not good enough. Either that's the players themselves or conditioning.
That said with the players on paper everyone would have expected better performances and more results. I fully understand this and I would have expected better! I'm disappointed with some of the players and their performances!! Even though I wouldn't have picked the same teams or positions of players for several games that Rich has, they should be performing better!! Rich has gambled on certain selections and when they do not work, you are ultimately responsible as a head coach. You know that when you take up that position! When results or performances don't happen, regardless of other mitigating factors, you are head coach. That's the territory!
Fans naturally walk away when teams under perform through lack of enjoyment! That's life. It's hard to watch when your not enjoying the game. If there is something to grasp when losing for example player passion etc you can keep watching but when there seems very little, it's difficult. I admire fans travelling to away games mid week after work.
I would expect 'If' there was no more Richard Agar against London a very good healthy crowd for this game. That is not a dig, that's an observational analysis of forum and social media posts.
#backthebadge'"
Don't agree with any of what you say nor do I think he's been the victim of any "vile" attacks. If anything he's got off lightly. I don't know him and maybe you do but frankly it's irrelevant as we are judging a the Coach not the person.
I most certainly do think he is sabotaging the club, whether that's knowingly or not - again it's irrelevant as the club not the personalities comes first and we are in serious danger.
I've watched Trinity for 25 years and I'm not going to pretend that we have not had teams as dire and lacklustre as this - we have. However the difference here is we have a coach who seems hell bent on making the situation even worse something the other culprits such as Peter Roe didn't - and I'm sorry but that is a deliberate decision - again it's irrelevant as to whether it's for the best of Agar intensions or deliberate stupidity the results tell you all you need to know. Trinity has been a failing club for 45 years and in that time I've seen mainly heroic failures whom we all loved and some average and some really poor but not in my 25 years have I seen us go out with such a gutless and defeated attitude as this from a team that could be so much more. Shocking, truly shocking and the buck has to stop at Agar. Unlike many of the other Coaches in the failed category he has to a much greater degree had the time and players to be so much better.
Hell when Kear signed he had to win was it 5 games on the bop so please let's not kid ourselves that Agar has had it rough.
RL is not and never will be a love in, it's a hard world and we now appear to be the softest club in the game and the only result of that will be relegation and then extinction in quick order.
I for one am not willing to pussy foot around as regards the merits of Agar's personality - my club is dying on it's feet and no one seems to care or see the root cause - which short term is a poor Coach.
I'm really tired of this debate to be honest as I don't see how much more obvious it can get. I want him to turn it around, I want him to be a great coach who proves me wrong, but please you tell me when that cut off point comes in your book?

| Disappointed that Agar took the advice of the keyboard warriors on this forum and put Sammut and Godinet back in the halves and Mathers back to fullback. Godinet had an absolute shocker and Sammut looked lost and the whole team was disrupted again with the combination changes and that cost us the match. Also, the shocking game plan of going down the middle meant the ball never reached our centres.
Siejka and Sykes appear to have been the whipping boys, but the combination yesterday was no better and probably much worse.
Agar - stop fiddling - pick your best team and stick with it or go.

He didn't bow to us. He just adopted the same pick and hope policy he always does. We would have looked as bad no matter who played where now - the genie is out of the bottle on that one and the team is totally shot.
No I'm not letting the players off as they continue to act like losers but when your led by one what do we expect.

Sad thing is had he not unnecessarily disrupted the side in the first place Samutt and Godinet would’ve had an extra 2 months to work on a developing partnership. Apparently the forward battle was lost yesterday, no halve can create behind a beaten pack, certainly not one that Trinity could afford. Siejka and Sykes had the advantage of Trinity having plenty of ball in the opening half against Wire yet came up with nada.

He did pick his best team yesterday, alright it didn't work but Sammut n Godinet didn't have much room to work with behind a beaten pack. He needs to persevere with it now the players are in their correct (imo) positions.
We could easily have been well in that game if Kirmond had taken that pass, if McShane hadn't thrown the ball into Moores face, if Mathers try was given etc etc. So we did create that chances, just didnt finish them off.
Are you seriously suggesting Mathers on the wing again?

Mathers should play full back, at Batley (no offence Batley)

You don't have to agree Vasty, I'm fine with that. I won't copy and paste some of the comments, but lets just say social media is quite vast now and some fans attitudes and opinions mirror society. Vile, abusive and disgusting.
As far as got off lightly. Maybe so with his opinions and choices of selections, rotations and performances etc. We are third bottom of SL. Everyone has the right to question why this is so? It's not good enough! Simple and the buck stops with the coach.
I don't think it's sabotage as I believe this to be a deliberate act. What I mean by this is he doesn't want the team to deliberately fail as he has a livelihood too. You could say ruining, damaging or collapsing the club with his choices. This could even stretch to and even to the point of going out of existence. I would agree that fans have a right to think and state this. I mean if we are relegated we would seriously struggle and he was the coach.
As regards Kear, If he had lost and we would have been relegated he wouldn't have faced much criticism as it would have been easy to suggest the damage had already been done. He certainly had it rough too after that though.
Something needs to happen though Vasty, this much is clear. I won't say anything more about the person in the title of the thread.
I will say the club needs to keep improving. It has done magnificently well and the aim this year is to stay in SL. If this is achieved it would be an amazing feat and I would be extremely proud of the people that made this happen. If this is achieved the club then needs to enhance many aspects of the club. Yes the current management team have started at a severe disadvantage and yes they have had it tough. However we need to be better in lots of areas and this needs to be done quickly. There will always be issues with Wakefield Wildcats and this is apparent from being anywhere near the club. But the club can be better and needs to be better.

Not helped by once again only having one prop on the bench on a warm day. Yes Smith was in the backrow but it negates the advantage of going with a bigger starting pack if the personnel aren't there to spell them.

| I was stood in "chavs corner" for the Warrington game and as Tony Smith walked past the fans gave him a round of applause. I thought if Agar walked past the Wakey crowd they would hurl their own dung at him.

I must say Smew I take a different view. We had what maybe 3-4 chances where we had breaks/opportunities to score only we didn't because we dropped the ball (Kirmond/Godinet/Moore spring to mind).
I thought Sammut and Godinet did okay. Certainly created a lot more than Sykes or Seijka do and we don't have those awful 5th and last wasted kicks from Harry.
Sammut and Godinet haven't played half back together for a while and with a few weeks they can build up a real understanding again. I'd personally stick with them. Just my opinion.

| Thought Godinets' last tackle kicking was shocking yesterday. In fact I thought the half backs performances were terrible and Mathers should be no where near the team in any position.
