| we've just signed Bobby Goulding Jrn as a long term solution and Im pretty sure Agar has said he wants an established prop not an up and coming one

| Quote: WakeyManDan8 "Keith Mason not in talks with the club according to last nights forum, but two unnamed prop forwards are. Both of whom are in contract with their current club, and both of whom we can assume to be either British or off the quota, as we don't have a quota spot available.
Any ideas? Rumours?
Scott Wheeldon?
Adam Sidlow?
Jordan James?
All purely speculation, but we've been linked with Wheeldon before, and with Salford being in financial problems there could be a link there perhaps.
Or could it be a Championship player?'"
Scott Wheeldon jesus christ do us a favour hope our small tuby prop days are behind us. Maybe ok for Salford been skint. We are on the UP

| I'd like both an established prop and a young project one but i doubt the budget will stretch to both, so we should push for that extra first team ready player. In addition I'd also be telling Stu Dickens to keep fit in case of emergencies, kind of like Lee Radford did for hull last year. Going by his performances for fev last year, especially against cas and wigan in the cup, then he'd be a decent stop gap for two or three games if needed.

I'd like to see a young up and coming championship prop who could get progress at top level someone along the lines of Alex Walmsley but not him as he has agreed to a dual registration with Batley. There are a few decent championship front rowers out there though how about Jack Howeison not sure if spelt right from sheffield good prop from what ive seen of him'"
Howiesons chance has long since past, he will be 32 next year.

I would have kept hold of James, i can't see the point in letting him go without a replacement lined up.
Its all well and good saying he wanted first team rugby every week, i would imagine the incoming player will want the same, won't he.

To be fair there is a difference between what a player wants and a coach is prepared to give him. So it is unlikely that the incoming player will be in the same position as James was.

| There are obviously a couple of super league standard props that are not getting a look in somewhere and RA is talking to them whether here or abroad. He's stated that he's over strength in the backs so for the balance of the squad a back also looks likely to be going and a prop coming the other way? Which back though?
James going plus a back going must relieve a fair bit of salary for someone who will likely to be pushing very hard for the starting 17 against Wilkes spot?

Just a thought but perhaps Fev offered him a better deal and first team rugby. Thus we had no choice, just speculation on my part.

Top idea I would have Dickens as back up anyday. Hope he is keeping trim. Would be a far better option than putting Wheeldon on the wage bill.

| Richard Moore, Ian Kirke and Keith Mason would all be decent options as a run-on prop, to play in short bursts; Moore and Mason in particular, whilst not especially skillful, are old-school roughnecks who could do a bit of damage up the middle. Kirke is slighly less impactful, but probably a bit more versatile.
O'Meley is still quality, but is quota and probably the most expensive of the four; both of those could be off-set with the release of John, who's cover in the backs could in turn be taken up by Goulding Jr.
I don't know enough about the lower leagues to suggest any up and comers, but since Agar has stated he's looking at established props, that's probably a blind alley.
Interesting to speculate, but I'm sure that RA will get this right - he did ok last season.

| O'Meley won't be leaving Hull. Signed a one year deal which he has announced will be his last before retiring and he didn't want to play his last year for any other UK club.
I still think it all depends whether we can shift Issac John in the near future as i reckon Agars first choice is an overseas player.

Classic! You must be made up!!
Good lad though he is he is without doubt a small prop, or a midget as you'd call them - you know the sort of prop you said we didn't want at Wakefield - make your mind up
