| Woods a liability, he's too lightweight and has often been targetted when he comes on. Mathers has potential but i'd rather we have a reliable pair of hands at the back.

| It's about this time last year Mathers started making costly errors for Cas too, it's strange that it seems to happen on an annual basis.

| I cant see why he hasnt moved cockayne to fullback, mathers is vastly overrated and relying on a few good years when he 1st broke onto the scene. Opposition would sooner be trying to get past mathers than cockayne in defence as atleast cockayne would commit to the tackle and go in full blooded running the ball back out of defence too.

| Hopefully some players get a chance to show their stuff in place of mathers and wood who aren't having the best of times last few games.

| i agree with Kay or Grayston - both passionate and will put their bodies on the line. just as cockayne would, but i like him on the wing.

Just glad he's on loan and we did not sign him, we need to be looking for a F/B for next year and get a taxi back to Cas for him, drop him to 21's and get Motu Tony in he has cost us 4 points this week

| just shows how good smurph was at FB pity he left the club .We would be a far better team with someone like him at the back.
I would let him go back to Cas and let them worry about paying his purported £90K salary next season.

| I know we were interested in signing him but we can't as a club afford performances at the back like the last 2 games.
I'm all up for giving a young full back a fair crack.

| Moving sykes to FB may completely dismantle our attack, have people forgotten how bad our attack was with IJ at 6? As for Mathers he must be on thin ice after the last couple of games and we have Tony and Jordan Grayston in reserve.
Let's not forget also how many people were raving about Mathers only a few weeks back, and the old adage form is temporary class is permanent.
Sometimes when players hit a bad patch it's good to stick by them rather than rip them to bits?!?!

| Terrible game today. It seems like his head is elsewhere at the moment.
All players make mistakes but, the last 2 games have been gifted to the opposition by our own unforgivable errors.
We should be on the brink of the top 8 tonight, not looking behind us

| Mathers was both one of our worst players and one of our best players today!
It was that bad a game.
Cut out the silly errors and the scoreboard would look very different.

| I agree he showed up decent in attack but it's no good being primarily responsible for letting a few Trys in and trying to make up for it later in game. That's not what we or the team needs.

| I wonder if Mathers is carrying an injury? I'd give him a week or two off and move Cockayne to full back, Mellars to wing (where he played a lot at Crusaders) and Walshaw to centre. It may give us some extra punch & size out wide which may trouble Catalan. We may also need to look at our defence a bit more which seems to be weakening as the weeks go by
