| Quote Khlav Kalash="Khlav Kalash"The location itself would not put me off, hiwever the wider perception could be damaging long term. We barely get the support at BV. Give people an excuse to not watch and they will take it. A move out of the district, all be it marginally, would see crowds drop further.
Look how well nomad clubs get on in sport? That will give an indication to what's in store, especially for a regime who won't spend money on promotion of the club.
It sounds like we don't have much of a choice but as a club we certainly won't prosper playing out of Dewsbury.'"
Salford had 2,200 there the other day in a new stadium and the noises seem to be that the location has had an impact. And that's without moving into someone else's ground. What chance has Dewsbury got of working for us realistically? I just can't see it. It looks like a slow death which ever way we turn

Totally correct, but lets not forget Mackie could not have played that hand with out considerable help of Wakefield Council. In my mind they are the real villains in all this.'"
Fully agree, this plan has origins deep within the town hall. Box needs investigating. Another Freedom of information request needed maybe, although I can't say I expect anything of worth to have been written down.

Something that we have discussed and are prepared to do if that is all that is left open to us.

| As I don't live in Wakefield, I only know of Peter Box from what I see on here (which isn't good!)
If I try to be as neutral as possible, Box's obligations aren't to the club or to Yorkcourt but to the financial welfare of Wakefield Council and the council tax payers, most of whom have no interest in rugby league. If a situation arises where Yorkcourt won't comply with their unilateral undertaking, the council has got the option of paying legal bills to enforce it, or not. I can imagine a scenario where the council feels, due to the cuts and other financial dire straits, that they just cannot afford to enforce it, and on the whole they are glad to have done something to create jobs.
What I am surprised at, if it is down to Box's intransigence, is that he has not done more as a rugby league fan. As a league fan, I'd love nothing more than for every club to prosper and in great facilities.

| Hang on there Slugger. The 106 is a tax on a planning gain . The developer pays it by way of providing a public facility, in this case a community stadium. It could have been a school, surgery, etc. The public are loosing millions. Box can't just sit by and say so what I can't be bothered to enforce this, it could cost too much to take to court.

I've said many a time had it been a school/hospital then this wouldn't have got as far as it has. Regardless of anything, even if YC wanted to play ball, they is no money to fund a stadium.

I don't know much about planning obligations or legal matters to be honest so this may be completely wrong but IF we do decide to mount a legal challenge my guess that that would be against the Council as they are the ones that SHOULD have enforced the SoS decision, so the Council are going to end up footing legal bills anyway aren't they?

If nothing else, a legal challenge will mean lawyers looking into the saga in more detail which might get a few people sweating. I don't think it will deliver a stadium but perhaps some overdue comeuppance.

That would be my guess. Only someone party to an agreement can take action, but public bodies can have action taken against them for their actions, or inactions.

I see the Council are signalling the virtues of the 106 agreements with the proposed 5 towns Park development. I take nothing away from Cas they've made it work were we've failed. The difference between the councils reaction to each developments is nothing short of a scandal. If the Council were really doing there job we could of had 2 modern state of art stadiums in the district very soon.
Coun Jeffery said: Quote “The total value of community benefit measures to be funded by Lateral, and which will be secured under the Section 106 legal planning agreement, are now in excess of £35 million, including the new Castleford Tigers Community Stadium.'"
“In uncertain times, this investment in the Five Towns must be welcomed with open arms.”

| Believe me Slugger. Box is a dictator who has no time for anyone who disagrees with him (that includes the citizens of Wakefield and his staff). He is surrounded by his lackies who dare not disobey him. His obvious bias towards Castleford (both RLFC and the town) is obvious to a blind man. As for his first allegiance being to the council tax payers of Wakefield who have no interest in rugby league, then why does the city council run a golf course (minority sport) and a swimming pool and leisure centre (other minority sports)? I'm sure neither of those are profit making. Wakefield Trinity over the years have put an otherwise anonymous city on the map. Also, what about the Hepworth Centre? Need I say more.
The apathy of the Wakefield people to their rugby club is somewhat disappointing. You only have to go to Castleford any day of the week and every other person, including women, seem to be wearing some item of club clothing. They have a keen interest in their club. Both our towns have a similar heritage so why the difference? A Dewsbury move is surely a no go; a real retrograde step. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm almost willing to settle for a ground share with Cas.

When did the stadium become a 'community' stadium?
