| Quote Butcher="Butcher"=#FF0000Realistically they'd have had all the production and staffing sorted for weeks leading up to that, and Salford only announced their squad on Friday. I agree that it wasn't a great game to show even will full strength sides, but to do it at short notice probably wouldn't have been an option for them.
Agree with everything above though - it's appalling behaviour and Rowley coming out and trying to defend it has really sent him down in my estimation. It's teenage behaviour. He said he couldn't pick the same squad as against Midlands last week (basically his first team without Sneyd, Watkins, and Lafai) because "they had injuries". Why not just replace those injured players with reserves? You know, like every other team does through the season?
He picked that team because he's a baby who wants to force the RFL's hand and at least make someone look silly, even if it's rugby league as a whole, or the RFL. The same governing body that made a decision to advance them half a million quid. They didn't need to do that - they've taken a risk because they don't want Salford to go bust. Now the RFL have essentially asked them to cut their cloth so they don't go bust again, and all of a sudden Salford are the being hard done by?
I hope we smash them.'"
It's actually not that difficult - the camera teams etc. are freelance now, and they could have easily been accomodated at Headingley - and bearing in mind, that some of the crews were already there producing it for Sky + (Yes, i know that was rubbish, but it would have been better...)

| In the unlikely event that they are found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, they should face a points deduction
if they cop a fine, what will they do? PUT IT ON THE TAB SAME AS ALWAYS.

Not really an option unless Leeds and Wakey agreed to change to a 17.30 kick-off . It goes deeper than just changing the game to cover , there are TV schedules to take into account as well .
BBC had planned a SL slot for 17.30 , and iirc this also included the CC draw at half time , making a switch to a 15.00 match unfeasible .

| We could have been there if,people who new what they were doing had not taken over the club well over 10 year ago . They got there priorities right and made the right decision to save the club ,that were not always popular with the fans .Salford like Bradford went down the other root Who's shoes would you be in now .If Salford go bust feel sorry for the fans . Like us there as got to be some fans that have followed them for 50 PLUS years or longer

| Super league/ RFL has a lot to answer for allowing this situation to play out like it has. What was needed was strong leadership. Not only was all this inevitable and the RFL has given them 500K, who was watching over this Blind Pugh !
Where do we go from here , keep throwing more money to hopefully get them to the end of the season ? It makes a mockery of IMG financial management requirements
What a mess.

| They need to see the season out to ensure SL meets their contractual obligations. After that they're gone unfortunately.
Myself and a few others have been saying this is the way it would end for Salford for a few years, even when they had been relatively successful. Living on the bubble eventually catches up with you and once the council said no more they were screwed, hence the payday loans to cover what the council no longer would.
The games isn't finding another half a million quid to stave off HMRC, I wounder if the other clubs will chuck in £50k each to keep them going.

| Nothing most didn’t expect in those two articles unfortunately.
They will be aided to see the season out and then likely cut adrift into lower leagues, hopefully new management can come in to stabilise and rebuild at some point.
