150th half pairing of the season! Saw Stephenson practicing at dummy half so he may spell Smith. Certainly a funky line up so likely to be a struggle. Barrow's halves were pretty good from what I can remember.

| Type of game we need to practice holding onto the ball, result not in doubt, let's compete sets and get into the habit. Guilty of over playing again.
Attack has looked pretty fluid considering. Smith providing plenty of spark at 9. Vagana making yards.

Exactly what we didn’t do. Strange one today.
We turned over a lot of ball today and repeatedly didn’t finish sets. Barrow were unable to punish us but the playoff teams would be more likely to.
I feel we were experimenting and chancing our arm today rather than looking for consistency in high set completion and structure. Seemed to be the opposite of what Powell said last week.
We didn’t feel the danger of the poor handling or penalties on our line due to a combination of strong D and toothless opposition but if we serve up as many errors last week I’m not sure it will be the best prep.
Despite that it was a good score line and there were good try’s scored.
I like Harvey Smith at 9. He won’t be far off ready after another pre season. Be happy to see him play next year but maybe early season a championship loan to somewhere like York could really bring in his game.
Pratt was class, Rodwell was a force. Uele finding his feet again and played very strong in the middle.
Happy with that overall.
Jowitt is going to cut that world record pretty close!

Well, now we've had 30 odd games like this we have a couple more remaining to get it right before we come up against Toulouse again. I'll not hold my breath though.

| I thought that the young lads showed up well tonight. Max & Noah moved the ball out quick enough through the hands, Harvey looked assured at hooker and Isiah Vagana was taking tacklers with him on each drive. Finally Rowan got 20 mins first team action and fitted in well on debut. I know it was`nt the hardest opposition but you can only play against what`s in front of you.

Excellent. If Pratt doesn’t get young player of year in championship awards id be shocked and same with Jowitt for player of year.
Could be a clean sweep of awards for the trin.
Just out of curiosity. I seen the SP team of season announced this week. Is the Championship doing one and would that be next week?

I would think you are probably right about Pratt and Jowitt.
I'd be surprised if Powell gets coach of the year though, it very rarely goes to the coach of a dominant team, for instance Adrian Lam didn't win it in 2022 despite Leigh losing only one early-season game all year, it went to Paul Crarey that year, Sylvain Houles didn't win it in 2021 despite Toulouse going unbeaten etc when Craig Lingard won it. I would think Applegarth is the obvious candidate for COTY after turning York's season around, unless he's deemed not to have been there for long enough, in which case flip a coin between Houles and Coleman.
The Championship used to do a dream team but that stopped a few years ago.

That’s a real shame. It would have been nice to have some awards evening for the league for the clubs and players.
In reality the other clubs won’t come close and it should be Powell as coach of year but for the sake of not giving all the awards to one club I can see it going elsewhere. Not Houles or Toulouse though. They’ve not been great last month or two.
York - they’re probably where they expected to be start of season with the resurgence.
No club has truly impressed from expectations which makes it difficult.

| The best coach isn't always at the most successful club.
Often it's about doing something good with average players and low budget rather than winning everything with the best team.

Which is exactly what I said. There isn’t any teams that have excelled or exceeded expectation this season. Every team is where expected.
