I can see that attempting to enforce segregation in a stadium that is not suitable for that purpose helped to cause some of the problems on Friday night. There is no realistic way to segregate at Belle Vue so it's a total non starter.

| Agreed.
Segregation is a last resort if problems can't be controlled. The problems on Friday were caused in part by the reaction of some idiots not liking being 'told where to go' or segregated.
Segregation sets up groups of fans against each other and increases the liklihood of antagonistic anti-fan chanting, which is reportedly what went on on Friday. There should be zero tolerance of this kind of chanting and perpetrators should be evicted immediately.

| Errrrrrr HELLO !!!!!! People were allowed to stand where they wanted, Cas shirts all round Belle Vue unless I was seeing things. But FWIW in my opinion I'm all for seggregation, it Will be happening at Newmarket so why not start now. Away fans just wind me up anyway when we get a good tonking, banter is rubbish when you lose most of your home games, away fans the further away the better.

Segregation was the main problem on Friday seconded by the late kick off, segregation won't work at Bellevue due to lay out(benidorm flats) let home and away fans stand where they want, ok you get the odd niggle with opposing fans but it usually sorts itself out . What happened on Friday turned passionate fans into animals. Needs somebody at the club giving glover some good advice maybe someone who watches from the terraces week in week out.

Exactly this was always the case, but, due to a poorly worded press release, the perception of the away fans (and their CEO) was that they were being segregated and meant that some came with the "we'll stand where we want" attitude.
In modern stadia, segregation happens more or less by default, but the layout of the stands lends itself to this. Segregation at BV would be a nightmare.
Even at Newmarket, should it happen , I would prefer at least one stand to be an alcohol-free, mixed family stand.

Yes there was no segregation Friday night and even if Cas hadn't been told where to go the layout of fans would have been very very similar.
I think in retrospect the lack of a line of stewards behind the sticks may have been in part due to not locking Wakefield fans into the main Cas gathering.

Lol You dont have 300 fans for your home games. Been going to the willows for years and always a good following from Wakefield.

Having drunken idiots in the ground was the main problem

| Why are people so against Segregation at Belle Vue ( The Rapid Solicitors stadium). An earlier thread on here refered to pricing at Hull fc. I think it was something like £25 for north stand ( away end ) £19 for south stand (home end but open to anyone).
Now IMHO if all the Wakefield fans had opted for the £19 south stand it would have result in friction and and uneasy atmosphere.
As it would if away fans opted to stand at the weldon rd end at Cas or the south stand at Leeds.
I also rember the bad tempered days at huddersfield before they decided segregation was a better option and opened an away endetc etc etc
Segregation works and if it improves / avoids any repeat of last Friday then again IMO it should be done.

| Segregation will encourage families to the game too, a lot won't go after seeing the scenes on Friday. Question is West or North corner/East stand?

| I think it promotes the 'us against them' attitudes and causes friction. Maybe in the 21st century we've gone too far down that line to go back, maybe it's a sign of the times. I used to go in Wheldon Rd end and the south stand. I think, with football taking the lead, people now expect segregation and have become less tolerant of away fans in their territory.
P.S. I actually like to stand alongside away fans and have stood in the North Stand since they knocked down the old west stand. If they made the north stand exclusive I would probably not go there.
