If true, is anyone watching the players on nights out or can they drink what they want then?

The lads can enjoy a night out, not a problem.



However if the club want to discipline players for drinking, then why the hell was there booze on the coach in the first place???



Doesn't make sense to me.

Lucky buggers all I had on the way back from London was an overpriced coke from BK.

As far as I am concerned the club should have a total alcohol ban from pre season to the last game of the season they are so called professional sportsmen for god sake with a privileged but short career that many of us could only dream of

If true that booze was on the coach somebody wants their backside kicking as for Mr Sculthorpe I am not a doctor but should he be drinking with his condition anyway?

If the story in the press is true, then we can now work out that Danny S wage is c£83k (if £1,600 is the money he is to lose following his weeks suspension), could be even more depending on whether the £1,600 is net of tax and NI.



I think Danny is a good player but given his injury record since he has been with us, thats a lot of dosh to be forking out.



Also, now he has gone public about the matter and based on his reaction, it is difficult to see how he can continue to be committed to playing for us.

I could understand the club having some sort of alcohol ban on player when the are on official business and I could understand suspending a player who broke club discipline (no matter how trivial it seems to us) but the comment the Kear makes ‘I am very disappointed with the actions of both players’ would be symbolic of something more serious occurring then just Sculthorpe drinking 6 halves on the bus.



As ever, journalistic nonsense will have gone with the anecdotal side of the story. Whatever has happened, it has been dealt with and that’s the end of the matter. It’s obviously not a damaging as the Long & Gleeson betting scandal and nothing like the Pryce & Reardon infringements.

If the players acted by being contrite and apologising then it would be. If the players wish to challenge the decision / authority, then it is not - unfortunately.

IF, and i'm still not 100% convinced that this actually happened as described, scully broke club rules then he should stop being a big baby and take responsibility for his actions. what is it with this country it's always some other c88ts fault. as for having 3 pints immediately after a game well thats just stupid and the last thing he should be doing considering how dehydrated he will already have been.

he needs to now act like a man, train his arrse off and put in another quality performance on his return.

i will add that having a fridge on the bus with beer and a price list on is classic trinity, why put temptation there?

After what I've just read by Nosey Parker in LW, does seem a little more than co-incidence that a fine and ban for something so small comes as the club seems to want to offload players. The words "constructive" and "dismissal" spring to mind.

We really dont have any idea of how to handle a situation like this.It is now encouraging negative press about the club.



If any of the reports are true re Sculthorpe,then i would imagine he has played his last game for the club.



Unfortunately ,i think the club now has no option but to respond with a statement.



Why ,why,why,did no one at the club anticipate what would happen after our original statement release and consider the consequences.



Simple answer,is because we wont invest in a professional/experienced "spin doctor"

Our players are very discerning about their travel and demand the best money can buy. The club fixed them up with a super duper coach that has

on board drinks hospitality cabinet. The club were aware and asked the bus company to empty it and replace the booze with soft drinks. The driver

tried to hide the booze elsewhere on the bus so he could easily get it back into the cabinet after the trip. Our players found the secret stash and had a little tipple. Kear and Beans were obviously upset because the rules on drinking had been breached.



I can understand the need for discipline but is the over the top reaction a result of the players supping all the booze and leaving none for JK and Beans
