| I said this 3 / 4 years ago that the area wouldnt be able to copy with a Rugby Stadium after the success of Freeport and Xscape and now they have plonked the B&Q and the massive asda is up and running.
yes there is a train station but its not much use on a Sunday with one train every two hours.

I don't think it is a road capacity issue, they have to build the new road to the stadium before it can open, as a planning condition, and although it gets busy, now the roadworks are sorted access and egress is fine even at peak. It is just about car parking spaces and controlling of car parking in and around the site that need to be agreed on.
As bigalf says, they will all sit down and sort this out and reach a position everyone is happy with.

| Supermarkets at very good at getting their own way and also use very underhand tactics with regards to land disputes. I can see their point as if i was visiting a stadium i would abuse parking that's free even if i wasn't using the facilities.

| IA do you know how the developer got around the CPO that was needed to build the access road, or is it unresolved and therefore another obstacle?

| Also all the roads around the site are urban clearways so when the day comes the ground gets built and used, anybody trying to park on the kirb will be clamped.

Asda will do what they do at Wigan (and Tesco at Warrington), employ parking wardens on match days and prevent people from parking on the site who look to be 'going to the Rugby'. They may also employ a receipt ratification policy or install parking ticket machines and barriers which they only use on match days.

Trains are every hour but don't let facts get in the way!
Do Xscape really think that there'll be more than 880 car users? If we assume that all those cars will be full that equates to roughly 3500 people. Considering crowds are around 7000 at the moment, do they really think 50% of our crowds come with cars or will use cars?
People from Ponty can walk/jump on a bus/catch the train.
People from Cas can walk
People from Knottla can catch train
People from GH can walk
People from Leeds can catch train
It's only from further afield like Wigan/Saints/Hull where they will drive.

Next up...
Can you prove that black is white? I reckon you can - based on what you've written there!
It's all very good this train lark - but you've got some serious habit changing to take place first. Also, to think that all 880 cars will be full, and that that is all there will be, is just bonkers.
I can't see the objections being any more than negotiating positions - so I don't think you'll have any major issues.

Just because they 'can' doesn't mean they will.
Anyway, I hope it all goes well for you lot.

People can walk, but these days most choose not to. I know people who could walk to work faster than they could driive - but do they? Do they pot! Theres loads of room round there for car parks, I can't really see this being a 'game-breaker', and look forward to seeing your stadium starting to appear over the coming months. If Xscape are genuinely worried about loss of custom the club could offer space in the programmes for money off vouchers to get fans in after the game!
