How did the Crusaders get their debt down to 700k from over 2 million, even with RFL loan?

im sure ive read that it did in crusaders case, equally buying the club off yourself for a third of the total debt, should equally count against, but hey, i cant see it!

I believe that the Crusaders owed to RFL £700k, which has been coverted to a loan. The rest of the creditors were told to whistle. The new company paid £16k for the club and about £80k in costs.

As I understand it the new owners paid off all the debt apart from the loan owed to the rl(700,000)this is one of the reasons they won't be booted out cos if they go down they wouldn't be able to pay it back and this is why they got 4 instead of 6 points.

If that's the case I stand corrected.

So that still left well over £1 million, wow they were really lucky to get only the 4 points.

Crusaders wrote off very penny of debt apart from the RFLs, they didn't pay anyone else at all!

I'll be interested to know how much the club manages to pay off and what is owed compared to Crusaders.

i thought they were having it taken out of their sky money over 4 years £175k per season?

I dont give a toss about Crusaders so why do we go on about them the only thing that matters is Trinity

Agree and to see if we are being treated on a level playing field to them but i doubt it.

There lies the worry. London Broncos went out of business what happens to them, they form a new company with a different name and get guaranteed Super League.

What annoys me more with the whole franchise thing and how it shows the true colours of the RFL. Widnes lose out on a licence because they went into administration. The club that get in ahead of them, is then found guilty of (for want of a better phrase) employing illegal workers, hence the deportation and banning from the country of those employees. The same club then goes into administration a year later after moving from one end of a country to another. The rules are then changed regarding administration they have debt converted into a loan by the governing body and are pretty much guaranteed a franchise for life. We hit the same financial problems with debt go into administration where Ralph Rimmer is interviewed and states that administration will most probably count against us, but covered his ass enough by saying but licences depend on other factors too.

So in a nutshell anyone who thinks we and the other clubs of a similar stature to us within the game are going to be treated equally has more chance of winning the lottery every wednesday and saturday for the rest of their lives, than Lewis & Co giving fair treatment.

The franchise system was and IMHO still is the beginning of the end of Rugby League as we know it. Nobody is safe from the expansion vision, if / when we go this time a shiny new stadium is not going to help the next club on the RFL radar.
