| Quote ="Sandal Cat"To try and answer the questions on debts and why investors pulled out based on what I heard last night. If I heard wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.
One of the investors after spending weeks on due dilligence pulled out but was later found to be a former bankrupt Director who was unable to hod office in any event.
The over investor was a multi-millionaire (worth £150m I seem to recall). He examined the books and the Clubs debts did not frighten him off, indeed the debt was "small potatoes" to him. He was keen to take over and the Club requested that the RFL see him so as to see the calibre of investor who was looking to take over the Club. Initially the RFL refused to meet him stating that the process had already started - what process, franchise applications are not to be submitted until March unless they were referring to the process with NL Clubs applications.
They were however persuaded to meet with the Investor and following the meeting with the RFL/SL he said that the investment no longer fitted in with his current portfolio/plans.
This is what I find particularly worrying. He was keen (having seen the books) until he met with the RFL/SL. What did they say to him that made him change his mind ? Did they say anything about who would be getting franchises in 2012 ? Did they say anything at all ? Did he just change his mind ? Who knows ?
If I've got this wrong then please put me straight.'"
If above is true.... then I'll put £5k in if I can meet with the RFL/SL first to ensure Im not just throwing it down the lav.

Come on mate, you're not daft. What would they say to him? Show us your stadium and a few million investment and you can have your franchise. Can't deliver the stadium, so no deal. Can't deliver SL, so no takeover. We may end up being a supporters' trust club in the Championship. I can think of worse scenarios.

| one hell of a late day and only just got to come and see the response to last night,
I just can't believe that nothing has been said from the club, surly they must of known that the forum would hit off with truths, rumours and counter rumours.
to me its like burrowing your head in the sand and hoping it will all go away, well it isn't.
I'm now prepared to except championship rugby as I fear our fete has been sealed by,
1. no one will to invest heavily
2 the RFL has forced us into a corner and we end up cowering in it.
Mopsey while you may be right about the outcome, surly your not getting any satisfaction from the clubs plight.
Phil I've asked my question about whether I could afford to stand a grand and its a no, do a value rugby in Wakefield of course I do.
I take my hat off to those that don't mind taking that risk but I'm afraid its a big boys game when you start to invest in something so volatile.
I'm not going to stand and shout for the Bod to go or for John Kears job, for one I wouldn't know where to start running a club/business and JK will take advantage of being sacked and make all worse financially.

| Having read through many of the posts on here re our current plight the way I see it is that all the Wakey fans care even if they have a strange way of showing it. Many of the fans are upset that it is only the shareholders who attended last nights meeting who have heard the full story. I believe the shareholder meeting last night should have at least been followed by a supporters meeting tonight. Everyone on here could have then gone along listened to what the club had to say and then put their points of view / shown their support or voice their lack of it. In fact it would be great to see the fans on here put their views forward as to how they would get us out of the situation we are in and help OUR club survive. The way I see it we are not doing ourselves any favours by falling out amongst ourselves, what picure must that paint at Red Hall. We have to fight for OUR club , its about Wakefield Trinity Wildcats past present and future , not about personalities who come and go. Come on we have ALL invested lots of money, time, heartache, good times and bad and thats what you do when you LOVE something so much , accept it warts and all. So put your time into writing a letter to Red Hall, the press, MPs , whoever shout loud and proud WE ARE WAKEFIELD, TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER.

| The way I see it is this:
I would "lend" a hundred quid to a homeless man if I thought it would help to turn his life around, and I would not be bothered about getting it back if I saw him in a years time, in a job, sober, with a small roof over his head. What I wouldn't do is "lend" a hundred quid to a homeless man if I expected to see him in a years time still on the park bench, in a booze-stained coat, just a year closer to his early death, knowing that the hundred quid will have just been wasted on more booze and hopeless living.
It's not the money, it's the uncertainty that would maybe prevent me, and I'm not hearing much to give me any confidence.

Totally agree. I myself have will most likely stump up and having a chat with a few people I am sure that whatever sum is eventually reached it will be used wisely. Like someone has said it will initially be deposited in an account with conditions attached. These are only my thoughts but conditions I could live with are
1. The money must ensure in some part SL survival
or kept as a 'fighting fund' should we be relegated to the lower leagues.

And other famous clubs have no sugar daddies and the same skint fans, and the fans still support their clubs, week in and week out.
We deserve no sympathy, I've come round to this now. We should get the best deal we can get for dropping down to the Championship (which is where we'll surely end, whatever plan B or C or D we have), clear our debt, work towards Newmarket, and show everyone that in 2015 there is at least one franchise club that deserves to be replaced by us. Let's not kid ourselves that we have a glimmer of a hope of a franchise. I only hope the RFL don't promote Toulouse, so at least we get one holiday game.

good prose!
i will learn from you at analogy school, i was going for if youve got a bog clogged with tissue that someone had shoved down before you dont tend to shove down more tissue to clear it, you try and remove the previous blockage.

| Problem is the board want as many supporters as possible to 'invest' yet only want the select few who attended last night to know the full facts. Sorry but that just ain't gunna happen. There are way too many questions need answering before people will stump up their hard-earned and sadly those answers are not forthcoming.
Think its time to come to terms with the fact that in a very short space of time the club and professional sport in wakefield will cease to exist.

Sorry Sue, but what are you going to do? If you don't have the cash, what is there to do? Write letters? Save yourself the money for the stamp.
I tell you what there is to do. Support the lads like you do. Make sure that however tough this season is, the poor buggers who have to wear the Wakefield Trinity shirt are supported to the end, that they cop no sh11te, that they give their all, and that we end up in a place above last spot, so that when we're chucked out, no one can ever say we were beaten to it on the field. Heads high, loud and proud.
