| Personally I am sick of Chester's treatment of Max Jowitt.
The lad is very good and his confidence has been hit by a poor coach failing to recognise his attributes and work with him not criticise him
If Max goes I am finished after watching Wakefield for 60 years.
I know a decent player when I see one and we don't need another full back.

With no announcement on who the coach is going forward, I'd be interested who's signing this is. The club, Chester or incoming coach. My guess is that with all the negativity surrounding Chester they're picking the right moment to announce his contract extension. As for Gaskell I doubt he's coming to be a back up so I expect at least 2 of Max, Alex Walker and Hampshire to be on their way.

Hampshire and Gaskell are essentially the same player, they can cover a variety of positions so I would anticipate Trinity won't need two players like that. Walker has been poor so ought to be let go. Jowitt has been excellent aside from a substandard game against Cas. Will he stick around to play second fiddle again. Chances are we'll end up with Gaskell and Walker.

| Spends most off his time injured so the real problem will be team continuity which is what Huddersfield know, all too well,
Does this mean walker - full back is not re-read signed ?

| I more or less see him as a direct replacement for a Walker.
He can cover 1,6,7 so all considered it’s not a bad signing. Will be useful for the squad.
Not sure he will be a starter. Think Jowitt would remain starting full back if we sign him back up (I hope).

Absolutely no change he’s signing to be a back up. And given we’ve apparently outbid other teams i doubt we see him as that either.

| I’m not sure this is a good move by Trinity, he has been injury prone, and often goes missing. Didn’t do a lot for Giants tonight as they lost to Salford.

I believe it was only one team. I doubt it will be an exceptional contract. We will have to wait and see how our squad looks for 2022 after the signings and re signings to get a better idea.
More competition isn’t a bad thing. Imo Jowitt is the better player of the two and at 24 his best years will be coming up. I do hope we sign up Max but we will just have to see.

Salford & Hull KR were in for him and he turned down a new contract at Huddersfield. If i was Jowitt i’d be off to be honest.

| If true, he's not coming to play back up and after CC named Max for the error, it seems that he's trying to make it impossible for Max to stay, then when he leaves, he'll say they offered him a contract and he turned it down, what else could we do?
Another classic way of deflecting the blame from himself.
Swapping a 24 year old for a 31 year old sounds about right at the moment, the way the club is going.
We'll be signing LMS next.

| Could be a shrewd signing. A skilful player who will give us other options on attack . Been involved in the game for for over 50 years in various capacities and am yet to be convinced about Jowitt. To me he is average when compared to other regular Superleague fullbacks.
As for comparison with Trinity full backs of the past he is nowhere near Metcalfe, Round, Cooper , Wraith, Sheard, Box , Spencer or Holland.

| Must say I like gaskill so think it’s a good signing
However …….
I’d be gutted if he’s being signed to replace max though at fb
Don’t see him at LF
We’ve already got Rocky to cover half’s so essentially it feels like he’s either replacing Max or Rocky
Who are both players that deserve a starting spot
So while I like gaskill I do feel he’s a bit square peg in round hole for us

If you saw those players as you probably did, and I did, you’d know that MJ has attacking flair we haven’t seen since the days of Cooper .
To say he’s nowhere near Box, Spencer or Holland is an insult to him, and actually inaccurate-he will be better than all three of those.
as somebody else has said MJ’s best years are to come and he’s obviously trinity through and through otherwise, after the way he’s been treated by officials at trinity and supporters like you he’d have left ages ago.

Got to agree, Grix had time to have a cup of tea and a fag before he should have dealt with the kick through.
Max's was just very frustrating. Even the 'great' Lachlan Coote fluffed a kick thorough on Thursday but Fages saved him.

| What does ‘treated like trinity supporters like you mean’?
I have never insulted the lad or made derogatory statements about him,
I would actually like him to succeed.
Am I not allowed an opinion.?
People talk as if Jowitt is a young lad . He is well into his twenties.I have doubts about his tackling ability and the ability to regularly beat a man when returning the ball.
I agree he has a good passing game , and takes the high ball well.
I do not berate him for an odd mistake , that happens.

| and some of you said i was talking BS!!
Seems its a popular decision with the Hudds fans as they dont seem too bothered hes leaving, ok on his day when he's bothered in attack but lethargic and effortless in defence so ive been told.
Anyway you've a forward and a back leaving soon too and one you probably wont be happy with reading this forum

I agree.
Gaskill can be really good on his day but, IF Jowitt, Miller and Lino are staying, plus Hampshire, it would appear that we have too many similar players.
Also, it's strange signing anyone until we know who will be our coach next season although, if wag gain another few wins, I would expect Chester to continue.
