Grow up, we've no more than anyone else, and coming from a Wigan fans who's recent glorious past was almost totally built on overseas players is frankly ridiculous.

Because clubs like Wigan venture into other teams catchment areas and Hoover them all up. Saying that weve done pretty well recently.

Casually forgotten by certain 'big club' fans. Good thing is it doesn't always work as we are all hoping is the case with Hampshire.



As it happens we have 10 academy products in the team and a further 6 players from the Wakefield district - 16 local players in total - another 6 from Yorkshire/Lancashire - 6 overseas players.

Having no spaces is to do with having a good set of overseas who are happy playing here, instead of jumping at the first chance of another offer - like Tautai did.

I don't know if the poster is wumming or what but it's a strange comment Tbh because just about every club in every season has the max overseas spots filled.



Like I said in my original comment Tautai isn't even worth an overseas spot anyway and we've also got our own coming through in more numbers than ever as your post hints at. What more apart from one poster I think no one has said they'd have him back.

I liked him when he was with us and he is a nice bloke. Someone said he hasn't improved under Wain, I think Wain and his structure might be the reason why, Tautai was at his best when he played off the cuff whereas Wigan have one of the strictest structures going and they never really allowed him to be the player he could be.



Would I have him back? well probably not over any of our quota players that we currently have so its a no but he is the sort of player that does well at a club like ours or some one like Cas who play a far less structured game.

Exactly what I thought when I saw that comment. Tautai is no better than what we have. As somebody mentioned, no quota spot available anyway.

Tautai is definately no better than what we already have, and even if a quota spot was available, would be a waste of one for me.



I highly rate England, not a show pony, but puts a real shift in week in, week out, despite the knocks he picks up.



Having said that in the first paragraph, I think Hirst has gone ok, but would like to think we could improve a bit on there, and i feel that Huby struggled a bit since he came back from injury. Hopefully a good pre season behind him, and we could have the 2017 version of Huby

What a pointless non thread

Huby did struggle last year and isn't getting any younger. I'd like to see a quality addition to the front row options but would hold on to the current rota. Hirst does a decent enough job but isn't first choice option for me.

What he offers most is his biggest weakness. He will give his absolute all, but in doing so tries too hard and makes repeated errors. Forwards are all about the guaranteed error-free hard work. Solomona could be a bit error-prone, knocking on in dangerous positions due to unwise off-loads, but his excellence made up for it. With Tautai, you have the errors without the excellence.

As for Wigan's home-grown production line, their starting 17 for the Grand Final included two French blokes, two products of the London academy, a Welsh bloke, a product of the Saints academy, a product of the Bradford academy, and a Kiwi. Their home-grown production line in the backs is unlikely to feature in the internationals. George Williams possibly, who last year was one day from signing for Warrington.



It's not all rosy.

Huby's injury did knock him back a bit he can still contribute massively. Big plus when he's out on the pitch IMHO. Ditto England who started the season off with probably his best career form and never really tailed off too much. Would put Tautai in front of Hirst but, as said earlier, not at the expense of a quota spot.

Hopefully Huby recovers fully over the break. The offload game was still there just struggled for fitness and impact compared to 2017 when we were getting a big lift when he came on.

Hirst - been poor all year

England - been good but he's running on empty

Huby - been v poor for 2 seasons shown a lack of desire to get in any kind of shape.



Thank god for Pauli back end of the year and fafita before the injury.



My opinion Tautai is better than those 3 and I go to every game.
