Wonder why we don't consider Charlie Abraham, he is the reserve player of the month ? Do we class him as not good enough ?
Max is as good as him, but as said a good 6 is costing us the top 4 Think Mr Powell should stop talking about Truman as a excuse for losing the tight games we have .Says stuff like ,if Trueman was out there different story , He as played 5 games for us not 50 We have got players on the park who are giving 100% to keep us round, the top 6 Not Trueman Max isn’t as good as him, he’s in a completely different league at 6! You can’t compare a player potentially looking at international honours at the end of the year to a lad who’s never played SL. I know Charlie and his Dad, they are really good RL people but throwing Charlie at 6 in SL would be ridiculous, hence why he hasn’t been. On another note Charlie’s younger brother Cory is the next big thing coming through the scholarship at Wakey. He’s a 13 and has the ability and more so determination to make a top line player. He chose Wakey when he could have walked into any SL scholarship side. I’ll tell you what though, the players coming through at the Rhinos are incredible, they really did get the pick of the bunch. Be very interesting to see how many make it. Talking of youngsters, I watch quite a bit of local junior rugby and one of the best half's I have seen recently, is being courted by a few big clubs, but not Trinity for some reason ( who he would have jumped at)I'll not name him at this stage. Doesn’t play at Eastmoor does he No, but not too far away. Can we PM on this new site ??

Maybe why we are not courted him is ,the coaching staff (who have not got a lot wrong this season ) think we have got enough young halfs signed up ,who are not quite ready to throw in to S L yet .,But it is a problem that is just holding us back now from been a very good team

The two aren’t necessarily parallel. The youth set up is relatively new I believe so will see steady growth but having the pick of the best young talent does help. When you say problem that’s holding us back now I think you’re talking about established first team options. That’s a different conversation to a promising young player at scholarship age. It would not remedy the short term but long term planning is essential to providing future players not just for trinity but the sport as a whole. Perhaps as you say the club believe they have enough talent in the age group that have the ability to progress.

A few usual posters getting upset about maybe not reaching the top 4. The first year back in SL was always about finding what team we have and being competitive.
I think if you said halfway through we’d be above Catalans and Warrington not a single Trin fan wouldn’t take it.
A quick note about Jowitt - we’ve scored more points with him at 6 then Catalans have with Keary and Fages in the past two or three games.
Do you think coach going as any thing to do with that Are you telling me a player like Keary suddenly forgets how to play RL just because the coach has gone? I do think Max needs to take some pressure of Lino kicking wise if he’s going to play 6 for the foreseeable but other than that he’s been fine.

I watched the Leeds game back and he was probably best player for us overall. Was involved in a lot we did right and feel he put in a few good kicks and that he could probably put in a few more to the left edge. Of the few kicks he put one to the corner and another led to a try. Either he has to take more kicking duties or the right edge kicking needs adapting. But ideally even if he does take more kicking on the left we will only see our attacking play click properly when he’s back at fullback running lines, creating space/overlaps and passing to the edges. Hes a fairly good 6 but he’s an excellent full back.

Hit the nail on the head with , take the pressure of Lino kicking wise as in no help from Hood kicking wise as well Teams have noticed this ,and in the first half at Leeds he was a marked man and it showed..The thing that turned the match round in the second half was ,we had the wind in our backs and Smith ,came on second half so the ruck was faster , but that still did not help the kicking game .Probably get shot down but at present Lino as got to be in the top three for player of the season

He did struggle for a run of games with no half partner. 1. Mckmeeken 2. Jowitt 3. Pitts 4. Johnstone (think he’s almost top metre maker in SL and probably would be if not for missing half Salford game). 5. Lino Would probably be my top 5.
