| Trojan Horse:Willzay:
Tyson Smoothy on the the bench for Brisbane vs New Zealand Warriors today
How did he play? He?s not going to get a run at 9 this year and was used in the utility role. He has added some weight again this offseason which I think reflects the fact he wasn?t going to get much of an opportunity at 9. He was aggressive in contact caused a couple of knock ons due to heavy hits and carried the ball to the line tipping on to his edge players. Went ok in the role he was asked to play.

| It’s been reported we have come close but unsuccessful in trying to get Matt Croker for next season. This would imply a few things about next years recruitment. We may well be looking at freeing up two quota spots not just one for Smoothy if we are still actively looking at NRL signings. We will be losing a forward from the current squad, Atoni or Faatili? And we are looking at big name/big money signings. Interesting times ahead…

| If it's true that would have been quite a signing.

| I'm not sure his agent just does the talk to boost his contract in Aus. He was rumoured for Cas for this season but extended contract instead.

| Just thinking about next season recruitment and I would t mind seeing Bennison here. Also there’s Theo Fages.
Anyone see any targets they think would improve us?
I saw Wilson’s name mentioned on social media but that was a random post with no substance to it. I can’t say I really notice him playing against us when we play Hudds though.

| If we are aiming to be top 6 next year then I think we should be aiming higher than Bennison and Fages.

| I wouldn’t consider Bennison. I feel sorry for him in a lot of ways - at academy level he was looking like a top full back, but being just a year behind Welsby he’s never had the chance, and has just been a sort of small, awkward fill-in winger. If we’re looking to bring in a winger, I’d like to see a big unit who can carry hard and finish too - but that would likely require a quota spot.
Fages is a maybe for me. I like him, but I think he’ll settle at Catalans now.
Under quota, I’d like to see us bring in a winger and a half. There are far more talented British props about than the other positions. I like Olly Wilson - he’s still got plenty of growth in him but is technically decent and seems to have a good work ethic. Not sure there’s anything in it but he’s one to keep an eye on.
