I suppose in many ways this is the start of the real season , what I mean is that Round One at Headingley was a local derby and our first game back in Super League .
Round Two the first home game and a real event feel to it with the floodlights , live on Sky and the fireworks .
It's down to the nitty gritty of Super League now , the long slog if you will .
Saints come with hardly a glove laid on them in two rounds whilst we've had two titanic battles and are up to speed .
Nobody's thrown anything at Saints yet and I've seen both their games , Welsby can have the dancing feet all he wants if nobody is getting him to ground .
Again in the middles , neither Salford or Cas had the physicality or ability to trouble Saints .
The usual Saints are back doing the rounds on the BBC Sport website comments section .
The days of Saints rocking up at Belle Vue and helping themselves to two easy points are long gone .
Bring it on , respect yes , fear , absolutely not .
Like it’s been stated earlier, we have 4 of the supposedly best teams on the bounce who are expected to challenge for top spot, we’ve beaten one should have beaten KR, our confidence should be sky high and never fear anyone, Saints played a toothless Cas side, Wakey will be a different proposition, hopefully I sadly won’t be at the saints game as we are in Vegas but will be keeping a close eye on my phone
My thoughts are that Saints have had an easy ride their first two games. We come out with the same resilience in defence and intensity and focus and there’s no reason why we can’t beat them.
As others have said, Saints haven’t been tested. They have shipped points but they’ve had to do absolutely zip other than run through the middle vs Cas. The missed tackle count from Cas was huge.
There are a couple of key danger areas we need to manage:
Wellsby is a threat and we need to be ensuring to watch him both in open back field after a kick and whether probing the line looking to draw a man and pass to the edges. We haven’t been shooting out in defence so if we continue not to do that unless it’s tactical then I’m confident we can manage that.
I noticed they are putting on Walmsley and Paasi and they bring good go forward. That needs to be stunted with good strong defence for the spells they are on together.
We should believe in ourselves though. Absolutely no reason we can’t win with a similar effort to the first two games. As many people have said, we play as we have been and we will win more than we lose.
