| Can anyone explain why it is necessary to water the pitch at half time when it is raining for half of the match? I ask because these days water is not cheap.

| Because currently our performances are akin to watching paint dry, a Bellagio hotel style fountain halftime show will hopefully help improve our moods.

I know I'm being pedantic but you said best in country first. 30 years ago they were best team in Yorkshire, but they were still second division in the 90s.
Hard to say prior to that as you say there was no league but they weren't going to Bath or Bristol and winning.
I went a few times and enjoyed watching, but ultimately, facilities were no better than a local amateur side. That and investment was their downfall. Not their rugby.
I'd have happily seen Barley or Harrison down at Belle Vue.
I played against Barley when he was Sandal Vets. Still good.

If I was a cynic like some others on here, I would have said it’s to wash away the blood and skin from players knees,
But yes it does seem strange, but there’s probably a simple answer, however, I haven’t yet heard any complaints from the two Academy team who played there yesterday

I haven't heard anything about the child abuse on show having all those kids playing on the death pitch before the game. It was like a scene from Saw III

| Wakefield RU was a mirror image of Wakefield RL , no investment no facilities to speak off. Even in the days of so called amateur period money talked and Wakefield RU could just not compete.
Sounds very familiar doesn't it.
Suppose you could add the Cricket club as well.

You could add the whole City since the creation of the MDC. Gradual slide into being no more than a suburb of Leeds since the loss of the City Council.

| Does anybody else think that splitting the Northstand has kill any atmosphere? It just seems dead in there so far this season although that could be due to the dross that we are having to watch but even for the Huddersfield game when we were in it it was just dead atmosphere wise.

It's what's on the pitch, plenty of noise in the first half against Huddersfield. Last Friday I think was the realisation that we are funked and the subsequent disbelief at how poor we were.

| Been a while since I posted on here, mainly because its been a while since Ive been to a game, this was after around 30 years when I think I only missed about a dozen games in total. I gave up in the end because I wasnt enjoying the experience, many times going to a game in a decent mood and coming home fed up! Frankly whatever they did to the ground would make no difference to me, in fact some of my most enjoyable wakey games have been at total dumps in the rain, in truth I gave up because I didnt like segregated grounds, having to sit down, half empty football stadiums, a lack of players I wanted to watch, (ie not teams full of second row forwards, lack of "characters"), and of course mostly losing!
I have yet to be convinced that ANY RL club needs a ground with a 15k capacity as the game stands, and would rather be in a full smaller ground than a quarter full footy stadium, its similar to gigs, its just better if its full for the band!
Wakey has perhaps 10,000 people who will say they "follow" the clubs results, you meet them every day work/pub/food bank, but of these only around 2,000 if we are being honest, actually FOLLOW the club, how, or if you could, get the rest down to belle vue and fill the new shiny ground has, and always will, be the Trinity dilemma, cant think of a way I would return regularly at the moment, and at one point I would have said the team was a very important part of my life, to convince others will be harder, but im pretty sure if I opened a shiny pressie at xmas and found nowt inside id be disappointed, or to use the music analogy ask any Queen fan how often they listen to "hot space", and the cover is ok.
