I would love to see Trinity get a quality experience coach like Smith or McDermott
But why would either look at Trinity?

I get your point but one is at Fev and one is out of work so not sure our poor income is as big an issue.

Just been watching an interview with Craig Harrison regarding new coaches coming in etc. Both Leeds and Warrington are ripping through their teams to get cap room for new players the coach wants, getting rid of players the coach sees won’t play regularly. Willie doesn’t have this luxury unfortunately, it is still Chester’s team, as Warringtons is still Prices team and Leeds is still Agars team. Willie needs a decent season to show us what he can do, if we survive this year, then with the likes of Batchelor, Miller etc more than likely going then it’ll give him the space to mould a team for himself.

Though I don't blame Poching for the recent debacles, I'd take Tony Smith in a heartbeat.

I'll be honest, I didn't think he was the right man we needed at the current time.

Sadly, with how things went with his older brother, I don't think he'd come here.

I would think he's not a yes man, unlike others, and although i think a change in culture is what is really required, to kick some people at the club into shape, he'd clash with certain people.

The only way it would work with personalities like TS, is for certain people at the club to listen to what is needed to turn things around.

We should have had a change of coach a fair few seasons ago ,Willie or not , the fact is we are down on personnel, a huge chunk of our salary cap has been sat out for most of the season and with no signs of coming back to shore up the defences or the attack . Brought in some bargain basement players on long contracts ,who by and large certainly haven’t cut the mustard, why they couldn’t have been on rolling contracts is beyond me . We’ve tried the hard nosed coaching regime and that went down like a lead balloon, I’m 100% of the opinion that we’ve got to give Willie some time to mould this team into something like his squad ,which means outgoings ,loan outs/ins and incomings, the old saying you can’t make a silk purse out of a …….. is so relevant to our squad .Bash Poching all you want and he’ll probably carry the can for the performances, but the fault lies squarely at the previous coaches signings ,the players individual performances and attitudes and lastly the quality we have sat on the sidelines long term .

Well with 2 years under his belt he will still be left with at least 4 players who are below standard and brining in replacements almost impossible.
The Recruitment's been shocking and unfortunately for WP he's unable to get out of it.

I think we need to see what happens this weekend before deciding on what happens with our coaching position.

If we lose we absolutely must change something, either by bringing in a temporary consultant to support the current set up or replace WP.

Bill I don't expect to come back from his injuries and have more or less written him off but losing Lyne and Tom (that was some niggle in training?) has been a huge blow.

Any coach who as got the Squad we have will struggle we are a championship team playing in S L

This club has made some real howlers on recruitment and one of the biggest was stubbornly hanging on to Chester for at least one season too long. Just about every sane supporter could see that at the time, but not the club. Right now we have serious problems but i wonder how the influencual people at the club are seeing it and what are their plans for the future. Like others have said ,it will take another season or two to undo the damage caused by Chester, so best coach in the world would struggle with our squad.
