When you say that we only get players that other clubs don`t want its probably due to the fact we are still fighting to avoid the drop, no player would commit a long term contract to that situation normally, but I see it as a shrewd business deals by the club to get some brilliant deals through . When we signed Big Dave that was probably one of the biggest scoops of 2016 and for him to be here 6 years on is some good negotiating. Keeping Tom Johnstone here every season is some feat, as it would seem easier to cash in on him when wire and whinos were showing an interest in him. Although Milky was released by Hull , at the time he was touted as a top player as he was a junior kangaroo half back. Admitted that we don`t freshen the squad as regular as other teams but I think if we did that we would`nt be in the top tier.
when I read some of the posts on here I imagine some the ages they are, because as others have written the position we are in is nowhere near as bad as the early 80s.'"
I wasn't being disrespectful to any player, It was said in the context of my post to those who show little faith in Michael Carter, some people are quick to criticise but don't have an alternative, money is tight, we punch well above our weight, there are clubs in the lower divisions wealthier than us, but year after year we battle on against the odds, all the best players are snapped up by the money clubs, now and then we drop on but in the main we have to take a chance and hope they come good, the ground holds us back lack of funds for the best players hold us back, keeping the players we have is not as difficult as attracting new ones to the club, if our players are happy it's easier to offer them more when we already have them because we know what we've got and the risk is not as big as risking money we don't have if it doesn't come off, that's the way life is we haven't got money to waste, that's why we've got players a lot on here complain about unfortunately, at least shudds and Leeds and Warrington don't come sniffing around no more, that must be some comfort, but remember there's also a price to pay to keep them which comes off the budget for new recruitment those players we have signed aren't bad players overnight, it's up to the coaching staff to get the best out of them.
