You can’t knock the effort from the lads in the first three games but effort can only get you so far. The team simply does not have the smarts to be able to unlock defences. They had enough ball in that first half to inflict damage but they lack attacking shape and do not know how to effectively use the ball when in possession.

The hooking issue does not help for sure but I don’t buy CC’s line that the messianic soon to be 32 Kyle Wood is the salvation to crossing the try line because he is not; Harry Bowes showed enough at the back end of last year to justify selection and there’s no better time to play him when he’ll be coming into a team which is not patched together with a load of young kids but full of seasoned veterans. The fact is that our inability to score is more fundamental and deep-rooted than who plays at 9 and it has plagued us for some time – since around the time JK left us coincidentally. Our only score today came yet again from another piece of TJ magic and therein lies the root of the problem – we heavily rely on moments of individual brilliance to try and win games. Those feats unfortunately do not win matches and the results over the last two years or so tell you that. The second half attacking masterclass from Catalans starkly highlighted what is so glaringly, and disappointingly, missing from our style of play - a collective and structured attack.

It’s not as if we have not had enough time to get basic attacking structures right; there’s been plenty of time in an extended pre-season to do that. That then raises the question what’s been going on during the off season in training. Either CC has been doing what he should be doing and the players are just not able to execute on the field or CC is unable to coach his team how to attack and break-down defences and so come match day they end up playing the off the cuff and ad lib football which we’ve been bemoaning for some time.

Whatever the answer, the inability to post points when we have the ball in hand is absolutely killing us - and add to that today we saw some indiscipline from senior players which seemed to be borne out of frustration at the way we are playing.

I like CC but he devoid of ideas and unable to get us out of our present demise. If the clock is not already ticking then it should be. There comes a point when we have to say enough is enough. MC was wise enough to bring in Andy Last so if CC can’t turn things around in the very near future then AL should get the nod. We can’t continue as we are otherwise we’ll just sleepwalk into relegation and obscurity.

We are now one of two clubs still to win this season. The problem is that we have had many years in SL to have put together a competitive well trained squad whilst Leigh had only a few months.

The club and Chester have to face reality in so far if the former want to continue with the latter they must loosen the fiscal purse strings and give him more options on the playing front. If they don’t want to do this then Chester must go because he is singularly unable to get the best out of what we have and it is time to give someone with new ideas.
If both prefer the status quo that I personally see a long hard nervous season ahead once again, with this thread getting Longer and longer and the supporters more frustrated.

With all the coming and goings of the last couple of weeks, could the saga of Andrew Fifita be the crossroads for CC?

Quote: coco the fullback "and they also only won 2/3 against Wakefield, with an aggregate score of 70-54 in Trinity's favour.
Cherry picking basic facts to fit an agenda is easy, but you need to look at the circumstances behind them for context.
A big win at Headingly and 2 narrow defeats, one of them a fairly meaningless fixture on a 3-day turnaround.'"

3 day turnaround for both sides no matter what score its still defeats 4 pts for them 2 for us....not cherry picking anything what i say are facts one of the meaningless fixture was bo less meaningless than the other you cant say the one we won was meaningful but the deafeat 3 days later wasnt...oh and no big win at headingley was at saints ground
