Depends where you are on the spectrum with the scenario and while some people may not have been affected by the pandemic, unfortunately my personal experience has been pretty harrowing and as such I’m probably on the less forgiving side of things I’m afraid. I appreciate some people may be at the opposite end.

Personally I’m fed up of people doing what they want, not giving two hoots about anyone else, and flouting the laws.

I know at my place of work if I was found to be going against the law, and brought covid into the workplace I would expect to be at the job centre. If my place of work got a video of pretty much the same thing I might expect the same even if I didn’t bring covid in, purely down to the fact we have had it drilled
Into us to follow the government advice outside of work, and protect business continuity, or face disciplinary action.

Maybe the club don’t care less if the carefree attitude brings covid in and shuts the training group down for two weeks? I’d be surprised.

Don't get me wrong. It bugs the hell out of me that people don't follow the rules.

However that doesn't mean they should lose their job. Nor should you. Unless your job is a specific job that needs you to, like a doc on the covid ward etc.

The law says you are warned first, then fined if you keep doing it. I'd expect the club to come down hard on them and make an example but not a knee jerk tear up contract. That'll soon go to court. And we'd lose unless it's specifically in the contracts.

I would very much like a team full of players that care about each other and show some sense. And if I were Chester or MC I'd be angry and feel let down.

I haven't seen the video and of course don't know what the club have found in the investigation but I might be looking at a new Captain and this would definitely be considered when looking at new contracts and to be honest when picking the team.

Can I ask you how many times are you happy to be let down as a fan this is happening too much, it doesn't matter which player it is it's happening too many times now within the club

If I was Wakey I’d be looking to do a player swap. However clubs might not be as reluctant to want him given the constant issues.

I have not seen the video but I presume that the party was in a player’s house. I agree what they did was wrong but how many on here can say that they have not broken one of the many laws brought in since March. The players and their spouses are in fact lesser of a risk to the general public than most because they will be regularly tested and spend a lot of time in each other’s company both indoors and out. When they are in the presence of the general public I have no information that they do so in breach of the COVID-19 conditions of wearing a mask etc.
The biggest risk to them and those on here with children is the infections in schools.
I regret that I expect this type of noncompliance will grow among the general public because people are getting frustrated at what appears to be a worsening situation with no actual end in sight. I know we have the vaccine but even this is being questioned because of the suggested extension to the application of the second dose to three months. I even heard today that they were even thinking of mixing vaccines between the two doses.
We are not in a position to go around terminating contracts, which in this case would not be justified even for those with a personal grudge against specific players.
What they did was wrong but they will not be the last.

Over the new year loads of sports players have been reprimanded for breaking COVID-19 guidelines, think a fine and telling off are the norm in these unprecedented time’s. They’ve been daft and let themselves and the club down but bet they’re not on their own.

If the management at the club shares your opinion this will strengthen the culture of players thinking they run the show.

If it was the first indiscretion then I agree a fine and a warning would be appropriate.

We know in some cases it isn’t their first or even second discretion though.

At some point to get control back the senior management team have to be prepared to take decisive action or we will forever be in this cycle.
