Would have rather we would have gone for someone younger, if I am being totally honest, but he is, a quality half back, with a great kicking game, and despite his age, still pretty quick.

Hoping that if true, this is a stop gap, and would only sign him for a year at this stage. There aren't many good organising halves around at the moment, and who knows, after a year, Miller, Hampshire or Reynolds may have built that into their game, or, if not, there may well be some availability there, whether it be a British half or overseas half back. Added to this we still have Liam Finn on the coaching staff, so not just Broughy, but we have his experiences and knowledge to pass down too.

Personally think this would be good, we've been crying out for a halfback with a good kicking game for years and Brough has that. Also think our squad is a good group so they'll keep his head screwed on.

Bit weird the timing after signing Reynolds and also renewing Rocky's contract. I would imagine it will now be Rocky/Jowitt fighting for the no1 shirt with Hooley on loan again or a regular in the reserves. Hope it doesn't mean anyone leaving.

But Federer doesn't have to make numerous tackles on 17st forwards all season or get tackled himself.
