I saw an interview with a former counter terrorist officer on TV yesterday, who confidently said that the only force in the country with sufficient armed responders is the Met; and that since the then Home Secretary's (one Mrs T May) cuts to the service, no other force has the requisite number of armed response units to handle situations like this.
I guess that's why the Army are now being drafted in - to cover the shortfall?
