Quote bigbadcat="bigbadcat"I cannot say how much it makes me happy to see our own players come though, year after year we watch players break through in the other teams but now we have players who actually make others look on ,well done the TRIN this if we keep hold will hopefully make other young players believes that you can get in and play I won't mention the names but cracking'"
Yep it's great stuff.
I'm especially pleased about Anakin getting a one year extension. Unlike TJ and MJ I feel Anakin is yet to really make his mark. Unless you're the second member of his rather creepy fans club most would concede that he's not yet become the player we had hoped for. He's not let us down when he's played but he's not the "perpetual motion" player we hoped for - because of his size disadvantage this is IMHO what he needs to become to have a long term future. Yet despite this the club seems willing to give him time, something they have rarely done in the past and this could make all the difference to his career. It's a massive step forward and I hope CA appreciates the chance he's being given.
Also a word for young Crowther who seems to be doing it the hard way but without any complaint or tantrums. As a youngster he got some honours and it's very easy for these players to take their bat and ball home when progression to first team isn't instant. This must be made even harder with the progression of TJ and MJ though as we all know (I hope) forwards take longer. I'm not just saying this because his dad posts on here but it's Crowther I'm most interested in. Backs are great but a genuine top class forward from your own ranks is where teams are built - and I'll never change my mind on this, games are won in the forwards.
If James Batchelor is as good as they reckon and Judah Mazive gets some size on him by this time next year we could have five or six home grown's in the 17 though I wouldn't expect it to be regular for a few years yet.
Long term has never featured before at Wakey so well done Mr Carter for stopping the rot on that one.
