Quote: Dreadnaught "For all the posts regarding changing the coach, player positions etc, one thing i haven't seen anything about, is whether or not the club employs or employs the services of a sports psychologist. Quite a few have posted how the team seem "beaten" more mentally rather than physically.
If we don't employ one maybe we should bring someone in, most, if not all top flight professional sportsmen / teams use them. Belief and desire in what we are all calling for, Maybe some of the players do not have the same affinity for the badge that the fans do, in this day and age of journeymen pros it not really that surprising. Maybe if some-one can channel that energy it maybe just the edge we need.
Just a thought...'"
Your point is not lost Dreadnaught.
I think they need this more because of the team dynamics.
Agar said when he arrived that there was no natural captain.
He gave it to Southern, and I can see why. Unfortunately his injury and performance dip (and an idiot on Twitter) put paid to that.
It then fell to Kirmond, who is a great team captain, but not the type of leader you need for the trenches.
If Kirmond is Captain, he needs a sergeant major. I don't see one in that team.
A psychologist could help the group find a way of dealing without one.
