1. Clubs should manage their finances better and more prudently and leave sufficient headroom in their budgets to be able to better protect themselves from one-off events (such as the Eric France debacle).
2. Players are bound to become unsettled when a club receives CCJs and winding up petitions by HMRC. These players have mortgages/bills to pay and families to provide for like you and I, and are well within their rights to seek to maximise their income and importantly the security of that income.
3. Rugby club management often tout players to other clubs without the players knowledge, so as to extricate themselves from a contract which the club signed but no longer wish to pay for.
4. Agents act in the best interests of the players who they represent. There is a market for players to move between clubs and most players require/seek advice on how to maximise the return for their ability. Its a short career as a rugby league player.
Unfortunately it is the loyal season ticket paying fans who suffer when the club finds itself in a bad place financially (whether self determined or not) as its usually their beloved team's best and favourite players who look to move elsewhere for a more secure income to pay their bills/mortgages and feed their families.
