Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "I think he's been one of our top performers this season, and twice the player he was last time he was here. But, in my opinion, he is nowhere near international class.'"

Reminds me very much of a young Gareth Ellis before the big step gave way to the offload game. If DK can make a step up in defence and find a little extra fitness he'll make the grade in my book. I too think he's got more to offer than Wilkin, who would look average in a Trin shirt, but that's just my opinion.

The problem with over-relying on Burgess, is that he's made of biscuits; I personally don't think he'll ever fully deliver on his potential, due to the amount of time he spends injured.

That said, I do think it's time to have a walk round the garden with Peacock and Morley; they're both shot at international level and the England coach needs to let them know that.

As for DK - if he continues to improve his game the way he has this season, he's likely to be knocking on the door in 2013.

Can't agree to say he will never reach his potential he is already one of if not the best forwards in the game.

If you watch Souths every team he plays against puts extra bodies into the tackle against him, that is a hell of a complement to the lad when you have David Taylor and Greg Inglis in your ranks.

As you point out his injury record is not great but he is an 80 minute forward who has grown significantly in his life in every direction, certain parts of his body are still catching up with him in my opinion.

In the next couple of years or so I think his injury record will improve significantly once his tendons and ligaments develop a little further. Lets not forget he is still only 23 year old. Frightening really.

Have to agree. Burgess is the best most dynamic all round forward maybe even player this country has produced in years. Better than Ellis whom I rate very highly. Think it says it all that it took the combined wealth of two very rich Aussies to stop him falling into Union hands - which was where his talent would have led him.

I know what Bren means but I don't think his injury record is that bad and I take last season as a blip and I hope he recovers. Really like Kirmond and he might be able to compete with most SR even Westwood and Ellis at a push. However Burgess is in a class of his own in any position in the pack bar hooker.

I'm not disputing his talents in any way - he's clearly a freak.

When I talk about potential, I'm talking about longevity - I don't see him doing what he does, at the level he does it at, for a Morley or Peacock length of time for example; I don't know if it's technique, genetics or a bit of both or even something completely different, but he does seem to be injury prone.

I hope I'm wrong - he's an awesome player and a delight to watch; met his Mum the other week - she's about 8 foot tall.

DK is in the form of his life atm, 10x better than his 1st spell with us. I groaned like probably many others when the Hudds trio signed up, but it just shows the quality Hudds have now to be offloading decent players like these. Cue Kirmond getting a bad injury and out for 2months. icon_biggrin.gifOH: fever.gif
