Quote: bren2k "Indeed - someone at Cas seems to think that suddenly sticking the word 'Community' into their description of the proposed stadium at GH makes it the same as ours; it certainly doesn't. Therefore, it isn't the case that the Council are [iunwilling[/i to assist - they legally unable to do so, given that the appropriate legal entity has not been set up.'"
Just to clarify this, it is unlawful for a Council to give any money to a commercial Ltd company, like Castleford Tigers Ltd (not sure of the exact company name) or Spirit of 1873 Ltd, and the only way that the council could help Castleford Tigers out is by them forming a 'trust' company. Wakefield MDC have indeed offered the same help to Castleford as was provided to the Stadium Community Trust... all they need to do is set up a trust. They will also have to do this if they intend to make use of the £2m of land asset that WMDC have offered both clubs for loan guarantees.
This is a question for your CEO, who may have good reason at this time for not accessing this money, but that is not Wakefield MDC or Wakefield Trinity's fault!
