Quote: underground "the thing that frustrates me about this is that Danny is a contracted Wakefield player next year...
and even if he chooses to move on after that I think that we (as a club) would get far more value out of his playing out his contract rather than thinking of selling him now... all the speculation is wether he is prepared to sign an extension now...or wait to see what happens next year...
in the same position I (personally) wouldn't even be thinking about 2011 yet...'"
Fair point but i think that championship teams build there game around certain key players, players come and go but the quality nucleus stays the same, this is something Jk has spoken about many times. I think Danny is our cornerstone for the next few years and we're correct in wanting to do whatever it takes within our budget to tie him down, so that if a bid did come in that was too good to say no to it would require a huge fee. It's called covering your bases, something i think we missed out on this time last year with Wilkes and Snitch, and something i don't think we will see happen again.
Plus with the lack of quality British halves around at the moment we need to base our long term team around players such as Brough in order to bring n talent like Southernwood.
I for one can't wait till next year! i wish it kicked off on Friday! want to remain realistic and hope the squad gels but i have a good feeling about 2010, on and off the field!- Last year at BV?
