Think its about player development mate, trying to get players through to first team level, then hopefully onto a better international team that can actually give the Australians a run for thier money....But you know whatever!!
Indeed, the main complaint about the academy is that it doesn’t no prepare the juniors for first team action. Granted that the youngster will not be fully ready to face players 10 - 12 years older and wiser then them but the more teams that are fighting it out in the academy the more intense the games will be therefore producing the sort of battle hardened players who should make the transition to first team level a little more easily.
