| My uncle sent me a text the other day. He reckons there are currently four RL clubs which still play at the same ground they were playing on when RL split from Union. I've no idea whether there are four or more than that or fewer than that. Anyone else know?
My uncle suggested that Batley may be one such club. He also suggested Wakefield and Dewsbury, although I know that's wrong because obviously they moved from Crown Flatt some years ago now and I don't know whether they were even playing there at the time of the split.
A friend suggested Leeds, Castleford, Bradford and our very own Keighley club. I'm also thinking Keighley but not got much further than that. Featherstone? Barrow? The two Cumberland teams are possibles? I really don't know.
Any RL boffins out there able to answer the question?

Definitely not Bradford. Prior to moving to Odsal they played at Birch Lane. Before being known as Bradford Northern. They were called Manningham and played in that area. They are one of the original members of the historic meeting at the George Hotel.

I thought Manningham became Bradford City FC at Valley parade and Bradford FC became Park Avenue, i.e. from rugby to football.
I bet some amateur clubs maybe? Elland or Brighouse or the lancashire ones.

| Batley are definitely one, they have one of the RFL blue plaques outside Mount Pleasant to mark it being one of the original Rugby League grounds.
I'd feel pretty confident in taking a shot at Leeds and Wakefield also. Couldn't think of a fourth.

Can't be Widnes, they moved from Naughton Park to their new place some years ago now.

| CDC. Stealth Comic is one of Cougars most intelligent, long-standing and respected supporters. It's good to see him back even though I suspect he his is still not happy with the club failing to fulfil its potential all these years. He is 100% correct on this. Widnes hasn't moved grounds since 1895. They've just redeveloped the stands and changed the name of the ground.

Ah, right, well I never knew that. That's me telt! So the Halton Stadium or whatever it's called now stands on the site of Widnes's old ground?

Thanks for this.
I don't go down particularly much these days for a multitude of reasons. You could say I have a love hate relationship with the club. I love that it's my town and my team. I hate the way the sport is run, how the club seems to look inwards on itself these days and how many cliques seemed to had formed down there, it took away from the enjoyment of it for me. It's also too expensive for what the product actually is.
Anyway Keighley Cougars will always have a special place in my heart and I wish them all the best. One day i'll learn to love them properly again.
